Re: NHL One Vote Away from Changing OT in Playoffs

This would ruin the playoffs for me and most fans. Playoff overtime is great for this very reason. It's unpredictable and the game can end right away or go on for several more periods. This is what the playoffs are all about. No game has gone on forever so there is no need to worry about that.

The Sharks have had three overtime games this year and I loved every one of them.

Even though Blake may not be loved by Avs fans anymore, at least we can thank him for this.

Thank you Rob Blake. There's no reson for 4-on-4 OT in the playoffs in this era IMO. In the dead puck era I would've been all for it. But not now.

I like the regular season 4-on-4 OT's (and even the shoot-outs I'm okay with), but the playoffs need to be decided 5-on-5 come hell or high water. Some things are sacrosanct.

But I'm glad to see more games are being decided inside the first 20 minutes of extra time.
See I love when games go into their 2nd and 3rd overtime periods. To me one of the best things about hockey is how important each goal is. That is obviously made even more significant in overtime so each shot on goal becomes an edge of your seat venture.

I've always said, the best thing in sports is OT playoff hockey, there is nothing better (maybe the opening week of March Madness, which they're also trying to change... why are they ruining my favorite things!). And if it went to 4-4 that would not be the case anymore. It changes the whole dynamic of the game for no reason

I mean, just look at the olympics... who watching that thought the US had a chance when the gold medal game went into OT. In 4-4 Canada was far too dominant and it was over before it started

Shootouts, 4 on 4 OT's. That crap ain't hockey. Ending games with a skill competition is flatout embarrassing. In this clowns world, The World Series would end with homrun derby, Super Bowl would with Punt, Pass & Kick competition, and the NBA Finals with a game of horse. The Betteman era will be know as the lost decade.
