29. Ken Campbell of The Hockey News reported Rob Blake was the competition committee's deciding vote against going to four-on-four OT in the playoffs. Blake deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame just for that.
This league just can't let a great thing be, can it?

Strange. I'd like some context on this. Was this proposed by the GM's at some point and vetoed by the CC, or just something the CC was considering? Was this immediately after the lockout or since then? I don't recall hearing anything about this before.

I understand the reasoning behind 4-on-4 with OT though.
Before the lockout there were numerous occassions where OT went beyond the 2nd OT and even 3rd.
It was death for viewers, broadcasters and fans. Face it, the hockey by the 2nd OT was brutal.

But I'm glad to see more games are being decided inside the first 20 minutes of extra time.

That's because the hockey before the OT tended to be brutal, as we both remember and would no doubt like to forget. The 2003 playoffs in particular were hideous.

One step closer to the shootout in the playoffs. Bettman isn't even trying to hide the bulge in his pants.

Playoff overtime should be 5 on 5, period . I don't care if it results in 2 or 3 OT games sometimes, playoff games should be decided the right way.

Don't even get me started if they ever think about going to a shootout, at that point I would consider not even watching the sport anymore.

Kill the shootout. Go on to 5-5 OT for Regular Season. Continious OT. No Ties. JUST DO IT!

I remember back when I was younger and the Philly/Pittsburgh game went 5 OTs. I enjoyed that.

Playoff OT is great, why should we change it?
