Love this trade, get another pest on our team. I hated Quincey, hopefully David Jones is next. LeBrun tweeted we'll be busy.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Confirmed. TB trades Kyle Quincey for DET's first round pick.

A 3 way trade.

Stan Bowman better get to work. The Hawks need a defenseman.

Re: The 2012 NHL Trade Deadline

Never seen him play so I won't say Quincey is garbage but this pick up makes no sense to me especially for a first. Don't know where he is going to play either.

Nick - White
Kronwall - Stuart
Ericsson - Kindl

So...guess Quincey is replacing Kindl?

EDIT: Thinking about it now, I really don't think this trade is that bad. I mean Detroit didn't want to get rid of him in the first place and if he was still with the Wings he would probably getting serious playing time about now or a year ago. Worth a first, I don't know but Detroit's first rounders usually aren't amazing anyways with the pick probably landing around 25-30 overall.

Short term I'm guessing he's replacing Commodore and giving us great depth at D.

He's a rfa, so long term, he's replacing Stuart (if he goes back out west) or Lidstrom (if he retires). Holland knows what he's getting, and Quincey knows many of the players, as he developed with them in GR. The guy is only 26 and just entering his prime as a defenseman. A 1st round pick may be a bit much, but if we can keep Quincey here for 5-8 years (and he doesn't suck), it will be worth it for sure.

Quincey will benefit playing as a #4-6 defenseman instead of a #1-3 defenseman like he was here. Just got to deal with his stupid penalties on the year, is second in NHL with 30 minor penalties.

Re: The 2012 NHL Trade Deadline

Kyle Quincy is worth a first round pick this deadline?

So, Nash should get like, what, Jack Johnson, Beriner and Doughty, right?
