People ask, ‘Why did you take Martin Brochu?' Because Mike Milbury ****ed me on a deal…. In fact, it was right after 9/11, and I was driving over the Golden Gate Bridge going to Santa Rosa, where our team was training. I said, ‘Mike, we're all set, right?' He goes, ‘No.' I said, ‘What the **** do you mean,"no"?' He goes, ‘Charles [Wang] doesn't want to do it.' I said, ‘Who's the GM – you or Charles?'… I said, ‘You are ****ing me like you can't believe. I have no plan B here, Mike. I didn't need a plan B because I had a Plan A.' He totally ****ed me, but I don't blame him. It was the owner."
The best part is that Burke's Plan A (with no Plan B!) was Garth Snow. Garth Snow. This coming off the heels of the vaunted Felix Potvin/Corey Schwab tandem that Burke put together for the the 99/00 season. Those were good times, friends.

Quincey did have a knack for taking bad penalties (although Winnick is right up there, too), and he was a healthy scratch a few times when the Avs were rolling back in December.

The trade will give Barrie and Elliott more ice time, which is a good thing, and EJ has picked his game up lately, so that made Quincey expendable.

Jones will likely be gone, too, but I like Jones, even if he is very streaky.

Blue Jackets trade C Antoine Vermette to Phoenix for a 2012 2nd rounder (from Ottawa), a 2013 5th rounder, and G Curtis McElhinney.

EDIT: And the 5th rounder becomes a 4th if Phoenix wins a playoff round this year.

dang, thats all they got for Vermette.. that has Craig Patrick salary dump written all over it!! 3 years left on his deal, 3.75 cap hit etc.. can play anywhere in the lineup etc. he should help the Yotes out big time.

Vermette has been awful for 2 years.

It's a fair deal and getting that 3.75 cap hit off the books for a 2nd/3rd line center is great for the Jackets.

Re: The 2012 NHL Trade Deadline

3 years left on his deal, and from what the prices have been for other players etc, this wasnt very fair to the Jackets IMO.. like i said, typical Craig Patrick salary dump..

but if Blue Jacket Nation is happy with it, then all good..

Haven't been a Vermette fan at all. I very much like this deal, it's a very even trade IMO.
