Just over 2 weeks until the start of the WJC. With no NHLers at the Olympics and no team Russia, this years WJC will be the biggest international hockey tournament of the season.

Last year USA beat Canada in Canada in a shootout.

This is only 3rd time in 20 years that USA is hosting the tournament. Last 2 times it was Canada vs Russia in the finals(including the 05 WJC involving Crosby,Ovechkin,Malkin).

USA has won 3 of the past 8 years, Canada has won just 1 time in that same span(and lost in finals 3 times).

This year is highlighted by the HUGE Canada-USA matchup on December 29th from the Bills stadium.

December 26,12pm-Czech vs Russia
December 26,4pm-Canada vs Finland
December 28,4pm-Sweden vs Czech
December 29,3pm-Canada vs USA (from New Era Field)
December 31,4pm-USA vs Finland
December 31,8pm-Sweden vs Russia

Quarter Finals are January 2nd, Semi finals are January 4th, finals are January 5th.

There's a chance the Canada-USA game on Friday gets moved indoors due to weather. That'd suck so much because a Canada-USA hockey game outside in the snow is as good a hockey matchup as you could get.

Major upset! USA lost to Slovakia! Even more impressive for Slovakia that they did so after getting shutout by Canada the night before. Their celebration was like they won a medal.

Now they got such a quick turnaround for outdoor game tomorrow afternoon.

The snow is ruining the game at this point.

I didn't mind seeing it snowing so much. It's an outdoor game, it wasn't gonna be like an arena game to begin with. If anything, it made the game more special having snow. Though I could've done without the commentators spending 80% of the game talking about the snow.


Sucks to see same result as gold medal game. Canada up by 2 on 2 diff occasions, USA ties it up, wins in shootout.

All this really does is helps USAs chances of finishing 2nd or 3rd. If they lost in regulation, there's a good chance they finish 4th.

A little snow is OK. Way too much was collecting on the ice in the 3rd for me.
