Re: Cardinals Birds Nest

Week 8

(Disclaimer the overalls are what shows in my system)

Key Match Up

WR Julio Jones
Vs
CB Patrick Peterson

The best young wr in the SFL vs the best young corner in the SFL. This is a matchup of two physical freaks and could decide the game. If Peterson can keep Julio under 100 yards and without a td then the Cardinals should win. Likewise if Julio has a big game then the Falcons should be victorious.

Game Results

This game started with a bang! The Cardinals found themselves up 20 to 0 with 1 minute and 12 seconds left in the first half then the unthinkable happened. The lights went out in the stadium and play resumed 30 minutes later. When play resumed the Falcons ran a perfect two minute drill to end the half 20 to 7. Matt Ryan was fired up and he fired up his hungry defense. The Falcons defense forced a quick 3 and out to start the second half, thanks to a 3rd down sack by DE Osi. Matt Ryan once again took his guys down the field connecting on a 45 yard strike to WR Kevin Cone. Cardinals QB felt the game slipping away so he had to respond. Palmer proceeded to play the rest of the game at an MVP level, ending the game with 352 yards 2 td's and 0 ints. RB Rashard Mendenhall was a workhouse, 27 carries 124 yards and a td. The Cardinals defense didn't surrender another td and sacked Matt Ryan 5 times. D block was even more impressive sacking Carson Palmer 6 times. During the second half both coaches almost fell asleep due to the late game time and both were heard muttering incoherent sentences. Coach Truth at one point said "I like nacho bagels and ice cream."

MNF Game Ball

Carson Palmer earned this game ball by playing at an elite level once again. He's on the fast track to an unlikely pro bowl spot. 352 yards 2 td's and 0 ints

Re: Cardinals Birds Nest

In a game where the Cardinals limited the Seahawks to a mere 210 yards, they found themselves looking at the scoreboard and barely seeing a double digit lead. The Cardinals made uncharacteristic turnovers on offense and the Seahawks capitalized on it. Palmer had his 2nd worst game of the season throwing 307 yards 1 td and 3 ints. RB Rashard Mendenhall carried the offense with 116 yards 2 td's on 24 carries. TE Rob Housler exploded for 129 yards on 4 catches and with a big 52 yard reception.

On defense Birdgang harassed the Seahawks all game. Star RB Marshawn Lynch was held to 27 yards on 13 carries. QB Russell Wilson was picked off 4 times and qb tackled 5 times. Calais Campbell continued his great season with 3 qb tackles. MLB Darryl Washington looks on track to make the pro bowl even after being suspended for the first 4 games of the season. He had 6 tackles 2 qb tackles and an int. After the game Coach Marvin had a few choice words to say about Seahawks Coach Tower. "He's running a class A organization and they are a lot better than their record. They played great defense in the redzone and I wish them good luck the rest of the season."

Re: Cardinals Birds Nest

Mendenhall dominates Texans

This game didn't go as expected for the Cardinals. They assumed the Texans run defense would be stout and they would have to win thru the air. At half time Cards RB Rashard Mendenhall had 112 yards. Arizona just stuck with what was working and limited their deep passing plays. Mendenhall carried the offense and Texans defenders all game. He had 31 carries 161 yards 2 tds and 1 bad fumble that set up a Texans TD. QB Carson Palmer played the game manager role as he threw for 230 yards 1 td and 0 ints.

On defense the Cardinals D line stuffed run after run and forced QB Matt Schaub to throw away the ball time and time again. They didn't finish with a sack but had a quality game. The secondary stole the show with 4 ints terrorizing Schaub for 4 quarters. CB Jerraud Powers had 2 ints, CB Javier Arenas had 1, and SS Kenny Phillips has now had ints in back to back games.
After the game Coach Marvin had a few things to say. "It feels good to win by double digits in a game I think we only played average in vs a playoff quality team. There are some plays I want back on offense and defense. We will work on some things and keep improving as a team. But I have to give the defense credit for allowing zero 3rd down conversions and forcing turnovers". Next week the Cardinals travel to Jacksonville to take on Jgreg and the 1-7 Jaguars.

Cardinals Season Review

The Cardinals finished the season 14-2, 12-0 after the acquisition of corner Tim Jennings and MLB Daryl Washingtons return from suspension. QB Carson Palmer who many thought would be replaced in the draft, turned in an all time great season. He threw for 5,157 yards 47 tds 17 ints 68 comp % with a 119.1 QB rating. Palmer is your 2013 SFL MVP, NFC QB of the Year, and a pro bowler. MLB Daryl Washington despite missing the first 4 games, finished the season with 77 tackles 24 tfl 17 qb tackles 3 ints 5 defl and 2 forced fumbles. He's rewarded with the NFC DPOY and is the leading vote getter for the pro bowl amongst all defensive players.

DE Calais Campbell lost his pro bowl spot in the final two weeks despite having 43 tackles 20 tfl 16 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Kicker David Buehler won kicker of the year. WR Larry Fitzgerald ( 1,257 yds 18 tds) and TE Rob Housler (1,089 yds 12 tds) are also making the trip to the pro bowl. Rookie RG Earl Watford and RT Eric Winston will represent the o-line in the pro bowl. And nickel corner Jerraud Powers (9 ints) will represent the secondary since CB Patrick Peterson decided to drop picks this season. FS Honey Badger finished 4th in DROY voting behind 3 quality young players. The Cardinals look to have a big playoff run this year. This team is built to make multiple championship runs so it's no panic this year if they don't win the big game. The offense finished the season ranked 5th and the defense finished ranked 3rd overall.

Re: Cardinals Birds Nest

Cardinals win it all! Season Review

Larry Fitzgerald wins the Super Bowl mvp 112 yards 2 td's

The Cardinals season has been a wild ride. The team started the season 2-2 without DPOY MLB Daryl Washington (and 3 games without MLB Karlos Dansby). Finishing 14-2 the team clinched the top seed in the NFC. And their reward for that was facing the stacked Falcons in their 1st playoff game. The Cardinals held on at the last second to win a nail bitter vs Coach Truth and his talented Falcons. In the NFC Championship the Cardinals faced coach Super and his 14-2 Panthers. The Cardinals rolled on all cylinders to a 40-0 win vs the Panthers who had a great season. In the Super Bowl the Cardinals matched up vs TombSong and his 13-3 fast Raiders in snowy conditions. Coach Marvin is well versed in stopping the read option and slowed down any attempts at it. Carson Palmer threw 3 tds 0 ints with a perfect qb rating. The Cardinals played smart all game and found themselves with the ball on the 1 yard line in position to score. With only 1 minute left they decided to milk clock and win their 1st Super Bowl in franchise history! Hats off to Coach Tomb and his Raiders, they will be a problem in the AFC again next year. The Cardinals are now 15-0 with Daryl Washington and CB Tim Jennings. They will look to have another great season next year with MVP QB Carson Palmer and DPOY MLB Daryl Washington leading the way. I like to say thanks to the great owners in this league and the great admin staff for an amazing experience this season.

Re: Cardinals Birds Nest

Cardinals Offseason guide

1st round pick Jonathan Cooper didn't play a single regular season minute last year. This year he should clear out holes for RB Mendenhall. All season Cooper (superstar progression) stayed close to the team and the organization is excited about his future. Coopers return prompted the Cardinals to release last years starter LG Daryl Colledge. Also the Cardinals decided to release RT Levi Brown, RT Eric Winston, SS Yeremiah Bell, WR Jordan Shipey and LOLB John Abraham. Winston who was a great player (91 rating) will be replaced with with RT Nate Potter (86 rating) who is entering his 3rd year. Winston will have a lot of suitors in free agency. The Cardinals o-line will now be one of the youngest units in the SFL and look to have another dominant season. Arizona was able to resign key players like SS Kenny Phillips, RB Rashard Mendenhall, K David Buehler, LOLB Dontay Moch, FB/TE Lee Smith, DE Frostee Rucker, DE Darnell Dockett, LOLB Matt Shaughnessy, MLB Karlos Dansby, and WR Laron Byrd who missed all last season on IR.

LOLB John Abraham (40 tackles and 5 qb tackles) was released to clear the way for LB Dontay Moch (90 speed) to take over the position. Abraham will surely get picked up by another team. LOLB Lorenzo Alexander will take most of Moch's snaps on running downs like he did for ROLB Sam Acho last season. MLB Karlos Dansby is being traded to the Jaguars (pending league approval) and last years 2nd round pick MLB Kevin Minter will take over the 2nd MLB position. At corner Javier Arenas is being traded (85 rating) to make room for CB Justin Bethel (86 rating) who is only 24 years old. He has been groomed to take over the 4th corner spot and save the team long term money. The Cardinals team philosophy is to build through the draft and have veterans groom younger players to eventually take their starting spot. This philosophy will save Arizona money long term and keep their team young and fast.

In the draft the Cardinals will target a few need arenas like DE, back up TE, back up QB, back up SS, back up MLB, 4th WR, and back ups on the o-line.
