Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

A couple buddies and I started an online league and did a fantasy draft, had the 7th pick and made a few trades. I am pretty damn bad at scoring from the perimeter, much better at the pick and roll and scoring with big guys. Trade finder massively devalues big guys which helps me lol. I had the 7th pick and took Anthony Davis. Here is my roster now. Still need to make some improvements to the bench (PG is weak but I moved Jamal Murray in a deal to get Drummond)

    PG- Tomas Santoransky/Ish Smith
    SG- CJ McCollum/Kyle Korver
    SF- Robert Covington/Trevor Ariza
    PF- Anthony Davis/Bam Adebayo
    C- Andre Drummond/Willy Cauley-Stein

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

Recently started an expansion MyLeague as the Las Vegas Golden Knights. I figured I had to bring my hometown team a championship somehow. In this MyLeague I only play playoff elimination games and all Finals games really. I play on default HOF sliders, 10min quarters, and custom MyLeague sliders.

Here's the team's roster after the expansion draft:

      Spoiler

      2017-2018
In our inaugural season (2017-2018) the Knights did shockingly well, missing the western playoffs by only six games after finishing with a record of 36-46. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cavaliers 4-2 (FMVP - Curry) to repeat as NBA champions.

Expecting to get only the 11th pick in the draft and having only a 0.7% chance to jump to first, the Golden Knights did the unthinkable. Defying all the odds, the Golden Knights lucked out with the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft despite winning 36 games. The media and fans were all over this, suspecting the NBA rigged the draft for the new market, however with so many different parties witnessing the lottery, this proved not to be the case.

It was an easy choice for the Knights at this point, they were taking none other than DeAndre Ayton of the Arizona Wildcats.

2018 NBA Draft Top 5 Picks:

      Spoiler

As most expected, LeBron James opted out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers to test free agency. What most didn't expect was for LeBron to team up with superstar center DeMarcus Cousins in Las Vegas. Despite being fresh off the press, the Golden Knights already managed to attract two premier free agents who would surely shape the team's future and culture in the upcoming years.

      NBA 2018 Free Agency Recap:
      Spoiler

      2018 Roster:
      Spoiler

      2018-2019
With this new and improved team the Golden Knights made an unbelievable run for the title, finishing the season with 59 wins they ended up sweeping the Nuggets (6), beating the Rockets (2) 4-1, beating the Thunder (5) 4-2 and sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers (5) for their first ever championship.

LeBron James had a historic game 4 to close out the series finishing with 47 points, 3 rebounds, 17 assists, 1 steal on 18/21 shooting and 7-7 FTs.

LeBron ended up claiming the Finals MVP averaging 35.2/6/11.8 on 66.7% FG% and 58.8% 3PT%. He also finished 2nd in the MVP race during the regular season, losing out to Russell Westbrook.

The Knights remained silent in the 2019 free agency, only re-signing key depth. They also stayed quiet in the draft, staying at pick #32 and drafting a bench player.

      2019-2020
In the 2019-2020 season the Knights managed to make history again, finishing first in the western conference with a stellar 63-19 record. The Knights dominated with sweeps all the way until the WCF where they faced the legendary Golden State roster.

The series between the Warriors and Knights was a tough one, going all 7 games where it took a 30/6/22 performance from LeBron James and a 36/16/4 performance from DeAndre Ayton. After stopping the Warriors, the Knights capped off their season with a 4-2 finals victory over the Washington Wizards to repeat as NBA champs.

The following seasons would be prove to be tough for the Knights. Despite still having superstar talent on the team, Las Vegas would end up struggling in the playoffs.

      2020-2021
In the 2020-2021 season the Knights finished as the 2nd seed in the west (to the Warriors who again won 60+ games) with 57 wins. Even as one of the top dogs in the regular season and back-to-back NBA champs, the Knights would quickly find themselves watching the games at home. They were eliminated 4-3 in the first round by the Sacramento Kings.
The New York Knicks ended up defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2 (FMVP - Porzingis).

      2021-2022
The 2021-2022 season would see the Golden Knights finish with a mere 47-35 record, still good enough to make the playoffs, but not as dominant as the Golden Knights have been in the regular season.

Their first round match-up would end up being the Minnesota Timberwolves who finished the season at 49-33. This series is currently tied at 3-3 with the final game being in Minnesota. It's win or go home for the Knights, and the winner of this series gets the prize of facing the first seeded Golden State Warriors.

      Award History
      2016-2019 MVP - Russell Westbrook
As one of the most dominant players of the mid-to-late 2010s, Westbrook has managed to capture an astounding three straight MVPs, averaging nearly a triple double in all three seasons.

Now seems to be the era of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis has won both the MVP and DPOY for the past two seasons, also winning a DPOY earlier in 2017-2018. Despite Giannis' utter dominance in the league right now, he still cannot lead the Bucks out of the east. This is mainly due to unfortunate injuries in the playoffs but one has to wonder how much of his prime will Giannis spend in Milwaukee.

Andre Drummond notched two straight DPOYs in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.

Also, even in his 30s, LeBron still shows he is one of the greatest players in the league and of all time.

Here are his finishes for MVP:
      2017-2018 - 2nd
      2018-2019 - 2nd
      2019-2020 - 2nd
      2020-2021 - 4th
      2021-2022 - 5th

At 37 years old here are LeBron's (99OVR) accolades:

      Spoiler

And he still has a chance to tack on a few more things, as he is under contract until 2023 with the Golden Knights. LeBron has already surpassed MJ in the eyes of some, but with a strong close to his career he could end the GOAT conversation once and for all.

After LeBron and DeMarcus Cousins retire, DeAndre Ayton (currently 91ovr, 23yrs old) is expected to take up the mantle in Vegas. He'll have some massive shoes to fill.

Sorry for the super long post, been waiting forever to write this out somewhere. Also might've rambled a bit because it's so late at night.
I only play for a bit each day after work so I'm hoping this league lasts me a while, I'm having a ton of fun playing as a hometown expansion team.

They really need to fix that messed up Start Today roster. It's impossible to start a good MyLeague game like that. Everyone a free agent and it's not accurate to reality.

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

Began a new MyLeague, couldnt do the start today but simmed the season and it pretty much mirrored a majority of what the real life NBA displayed with GSW defeating CLE.

Chicago leap frogged the field getting the #1 Draft pick the promptly selected DeAndre Ayton.... Luka Doncic, went to the Magic. I added two expansion franchises Vancouver Ravens, and the Louisville Liberty (user controlled).

          Vancouver drafted Collin Sexton
          Louisville drafted Michael Porter Jr.

          In expansion draft Louisville selected
          Kyle Korver
          Justin Holiday
          Royce O'Neale
          Joseph Young
          Daniel Theis
          Brandon Paul
          Furkan Korkmaz
          Justin Jackson
          Terrence Ross
          Patrick Patterson
          Jamal Crawford
          Thomas Bryant
          Deandre Liggins
          Isaiah Taylor

          Vancouver Ravens
          Willy Hernangomez
          Ish Smith
          Chandler Parsons
          Dwight Powell
          Allen Crabbe
          Brandon Knight
          Damian Jones
          Tyler Johnson
          Sam Dekker
          Tyler Lydon
          Malachi Richardson
          Ian Mahinmi
          Tony Snell'
          Ron Baker

As I hinted a bit on the draft our draft was pretty good IMO..

          Michael Porter Jr. (5th Pick)
          Traded the 33rd Pick & 2nd Round in 19' for 40th and 41st pick
          Malik Newman (40th Pick)
          Kostas Antetekuompo (41st Pick)

          I picked up options of
          Daniel Theis 1.38M
          Jamal Crawford 4.54M
          Royce O'Neale 1.38M
          Joseph Young 1.60M
          Brandon Paul 1.38M

We let Deandre Liggins, Isaiah Taylor, and Thomas Bryant go to Free Agency

To clear more roster space we traded
Patrick Patterson and Justin Holiday to Memphis
Philly sent Andrew Harrison to Memphis
Louisville got the best of a 2019 swap of a 2nd round pick

Free Agency came and we had money so we were big players.
Kevin Durant remained in Golden State
Demarcus Cousins stayed in New Orleans
          Chris Paul stayed with Houston
          Lebron stayed in Cleveland
          DeAndre Jordan stayed in LAC
Houston matched our offer to Capela
Lakers matched our offer to Julius Randle

          We managed to sign
Paul George to a 4yr/128.35M deal
Derrick Rose to a 2yr deal
          Javale McGee
          Glenn Robinson III

          Our Roster for Opening Night
          PG: Derrick Rose
          SG: Jamal Crawford
          SF: Paul George
          PF: Michael Porter Jr.

              Hi I have question regarding

coach gameplan and playbook in myleague/mygm

Does the coach in the CPU controlled team

change their gameplans and playbook as the time goes by?

For example if they aquire new players,

I believe they should change not only the rotation

but also their strategies accordingly by changing gameplan and playbook.

If not.. It would be a big flaw in myleague/mygm.

                2021-2022

LeBron James and the Golden Knights refuse to go down once again. In Game 7 against the Minnesota Timberwolves the Knights were victorious 109-104.

This victory was made possible by an astonishing 31/7/15 game by LeBron who also contributed two steals and a block. LeBron didn't do it all by himself though, DeAndre Ayton has been coming into his own. Playing 41 minutes alongside LeBron and Cousins, Ayton had a superb 23/14/3 game on 10-15 (66%) shooting and five blocks.

It was a duel between forwards and centers that game 7. In a losing effort Andrew Wiggins had a statline of 31/3/9/2stl in 36 minutes while Karl-Anthony Towns had 23/12/6/1stl/3blk in 27 minutes.

The Knights looked ahead to the always deadly Golden State Warriors. This series started off extremely rocky for the Knights, as they quickly lost 2 straight games to GS. They managed to take the next two games at home when a series changing injury occurred.

Kevin Durant (98OVR) tore his hamstring about halfway through Game 5 of the series, this unfortunate injury would more than likely sideline KD for the rest of the postseason. The Golden State Warriors would still end up winning game 5 behind a monstrous 43 points from Steph Curry to take a 3-2 series lead.

Without KD for multiple games the Knights would prove to be too much though, as they won the next two games of the series to claim their second 4-3 victory of the playoffs.

LeBron James has long ditched the "Frozen One" reputation, having another dominating elimination game performance. King James played 43 minutes and put up 41/9/16 on 18-25 (72%) shooting. DeAndre Ayton was key in victory yet again putting up 20/13/1/1/2 on 10-11 (91%) shooting.

Curry tried his absolute hardest to save the series, dropping 39/1/9 with 0 turnovers on 14-21 shooting. He also shot an amazing 9-14 (64%!) on three pointers.

Game 7, Game 7, Game 7. The Golden Knights were faced with another one vs the San Antonio Spurs. Showing they are one of the greatest "killer instinct" teams of all time, the Knights managed to clutch out another victory.

Lebron James had 32/4/9/1, Ayton with 19/9/2/1/4 (75% shooting), and Cousins dropped 18/11/3/3 on 61.5% shooting to help Las Vegas claim a 111-94 victory.

The Knights know it don't mean a thing without the ring, so they locked in for the upcoming NBA Finals series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

It was a short series to say the least, after fighting tooth and nail to leave the West, the Knights dominated the East in the finals yet again. Las Vegas swept the 76ers to claim their 3rd NBA Championship in 4 years. LeBron James closed out the series with a 32/5/15/3/1 game, DeAndre Ayton had 23/13/4/1/2 on 11-12 shooting, and Cousins finished with 20/3/0/1 on 8-13 shooting.

LeBron James was once again named Finals MVP, averaging 21.7/6/9.5/1.7 for the series. This is his sixth FMVP award and sixth NBA championship.

There were no notable offseason moves, however Trevor Ariza has finally decided to retire. He was one of the first players on the Las Vegas Golden Knights, drafted by them in their inaugural season during the expansion draft. He stayed with the team for the rest of his career after being picked by them.

LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING

                2022-2023
The 2022-2023 season saw the Knights return to form, they went 56-26 in the season. This is mainly due to the fact that LeBron has claimed his fifth career MVP award. King James averaged 24.8/6.8/7.9/1.7stl during the season at an amazing 38 years of age. The last time LeBron won MVP? 2012-2013. Exactly ten seasons ago. Talk about dominating across eras.
To put it into perspective, LeBron James entered the league when Kobe and Shaq had just finished their 3-peat, and now twenty years later is winning another MVP award.

LeBron is also now the all-time leading scorer in the NBA, sitting at 40,134 points ahead of Kareem's 38,387.

The 2022-2023 postseason saw the Knights absolutely dominate the league. Winning their series 4-0 (vs MEM), 4-1 (vs NO), 4-2 (vs POR) en route to the NBA Finals. Here they faced the similarly dominating Milwaukee Bucks.

Without injury to hold them back, Giannis (98OVR) managed to lead the Bucks to a 12-3 playoffs record and NBA finals appearance.

Game 1 would see the Knights claim a 10 point victory, 116-106. It was the usual business for LeBron James who dropped 35 points in the win.

Game 2 had Las Vegas win by 11 points, 117-106. LeBron James and DeAndre Ayton both played 37 minutes, and in that time they dominated.

LeBron had 39/6/9 and one block while Ayton had an amazing 22pt/20reb/4ast/1stl/2blk game. 20pt/20reb games are hard to come by, especially in the NBA Finals. Ayton is proving he'll be the superstar of the future with each passing year.

Game 3 was a close shave for the Knights, they won 104-103. Giannis tried his hardest to will the Bucks to victory but the star power of Las Vegas proved to be too much. Giannis had 39pt/11reb/5ast in the loss. LeBron, Ayton, and Cousins all contributed fairly equally to help push the Knights for the victory.

Game 4 was another back and forth nail biter all the way until about 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Around this time is when Giannis Antetokounmpo picked up his 6th foul for the game. At this point the Golden Knights pulled away for their second 11 point victory of the series to complete the sweep.

Las Vegas is now 16-2 in the NBA Finals. Is this the result of a superteam forming, a lack of any real contenders in the East, or some combination of both?

LeBron again won Finals MVP. His statline in this series was unreal, averaging 35.5/5.7/9.3 in 37.5MPG. This is his 7th FMVP and 7th NBA Championship. LeBron has now surpassed Michael Jordan in trophies, although with a less impressive record (7-6 vs 6-0). Fans continue to argue over who is better, and cite MJ's perfect record as a main talking point. Is it better to continuously make the finals and lose there, or lose in an earlier round?

LeBron has also gone a perfect 7 for 7 on Finals MVPs like Jordan's 6/6.

                2023-2024

                The LeBron era continues.

At age 39 (!) LeBron James (97OVR) has won his SIXTH MVP award. This ties him for first all time with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Throughout the season LeBron averaged 26.3/7.1/8/1.6 and led the Golden Knights to 61-21 record.

Many believe this has put the Greatest Of All Time argument to rest, but LeBron isn't done yet. He's still under contract for one more season with the VGK after this upcoming postseason.

In the postseason the Knights defeated the Suns 4-3 in the first round. Game 6 was a 111-106 victory for the Knights behind Ayton's 41pt/9reb/2ast/1stl/1blk statline and Game 7 saw a 36pt/10reb/4ast/1stl/3blk performance from James for a 112-91 victory.

In the second and third rounds Las Vegas defeated the Mavericks and Pelicans 4-2. However in Game 6 of the New Orleans series, DeAndre Ayton sustained an injury that would see him miss at least three games in the finals.

The Golden Knights would again face the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Finals, however this time it wouldn't be ending in a sweep, at least not for the Knights.

The Knights quickly dropped the first two games of the series, 108-119 and 97-117. Game 1 was in reach for the Knights until something terrible happened.

After pulling up and draining a 3 pointer, LeBron James went down with a sprained toe and was pulled from the game. At this point LeBron had played 34 minutes and had a statline of 40pts/10reb/5ast/4stl/3blk.

Ben Simmons helped the 76ers with an absolutely disgusting statline of 35pts/19reb/7ast in just 34 minutes. He has been almost unstoppable in the series so far.

Somehow, someway, with no LeBron or Ayton, the Knights overcame all the odds and were victorious in Game 3, 120-100. Cousins led the team with a 20/8/2/1/2 statline, but it was a total team effort from everyone for this win.

Game 4 was the return. Ayton and LeBron knew it was now or never, they both decided to play through injury.

This game was back and forth all night long, the 76ers led 52-50 at half. But in the second half something woke up in the Knights. Maybe it was the fact that this could be LeBron's last great season, or that injury could change their future at any time. They dominated the second half outscoring the 76ers 63-44 to claim a 112-96 victory.

LeBron returned with his second 40 point game of the series, finishing with 43/7/11/2/3, meanwhile Ayton made his debut in the 2023-2024 finals with a 29/13 and 4 block game. DeMarcus Cousins was also key this game, despite being limited to 9 minutes in the game, he was unstoppable almost every time he touched the ball. He had 17/6/1 on 8-11 shooting.

Ben Simmons put up 23pts/11reb/5ast on 9-14 shooting, while Embiid contributed 19/10/1 on 9-14 shooting too.

The series is tied 2-2 at the moment with the Knights heading home for Game 5. Will the 76ers manage to defeat the Knights and start an era of their own, or will LeBron prove once again that age is just a number?

I decided to add some pictures to the write-up this time since I always take a ton while I play.

(Sorry if people think these write-ups are too LeBron oriented lol, but at the moment he's the GOAT and our franchise's greatest player ever. Once he retires though it becomes Ayton's turn to lead the franchise.)

Just purchased the game for 17 bucks new. Figured I’d get it to pump me up for 2K19.

I plan on getting the Bulls. Finding a way to develop the young core of Dunn, Lavine and Lauri, and bring Jabari Parker home. I plan on keeping at least ONE max slot open.. and keep getting cost efficient potential, and strike while the iron is hot to eventually land a max player who fits what we are building. Should be fun bringing the hometown back to glory. They deserve it

This is probably known knowledge now, but I finally finished a season, Dirk and VC retired, made the HOF, and you can select them to your coaching staff! How awesome is that? Pierce is also there as well!

Yes. I had Giannis go down in a CPUvsCPU game a couple days ago, even though I had injury frequency at 0 in the MyLeague main settings.

I'm in year 6 or 7 of one of my MLs. Paul Pierce has been an assistant coach with the Celtics since he retired. The Celtics have won 2 titles and are always contending. This offseason, Brad Stevens is leaving to join the rival Knicks who are finally a threat now. Pierce is taking over in Boston. Its almost like Doc Rivers all over again. I love it!

Word me too been doing this since 16, when i discovered it, I put Duncan as the assistant coach of the spurs, pierce in the Celtics, dirk in Dallas, stackhouse in Detroit, vc in Toronto. This years game (2k18) after I finished my career first season I wanted to do a continuation of it in my league so I created myself with the same ratings and stats and added the assistant coach in my career Eric draught and sk (stats kid as shammy calls him) but we fired Fred Hoiberg and now coach draught is the head coach with sk as the assistant coach. Such a dope feature to be able to edit coaches and staff. They even have Steve kerr’s cyberface as well.

Bulls are a fun team to play with. That’s my team in real life so playing with them in 2k is exciting, especially when Lopez, lavine and markkanen gets hot from the floor it’s a done deal. The only thing they lack is defense, which really isn’t a huge focus anyway in 18 but other than that they are a good team to play with night in and night out. Our closest games this year has been against GSW and Boston. Me and kyrie Irving had the crazy assist battle! I finished with 20 and I think he had 17 or 18. Boston literally shot 85% in the first quarter but we ended up coming back despite trailing the entire game. I ended up with 43 and he dropped 28 or 30 I believe. Unbelievable that I play on pro and the CPU puts up stats as if I’m playing HOF. Each team that I play against has at least 3-4 players hitting 4-5 threes a game. That’s unrealistic. In real life this rarely happens, only for the warriors and barely then. I hope for 2k19 the cpu cheese hitting every shot gets toned down.
