Who's going to wear #18 for LSU?

I just got finished looking at the Official 2013 Roster and I've seen that no one has been chosen to wear #18 for LSU. I've heard all kinds of urban legends about how the player is chosen to wear it. I really think Lamin Barrow, Anthony Johnson, and Odell Beckham Jr. have all earned the right to wear this honored number.

(I'm primarily a UK fan, but I really like the way the Mad Hatter does things down on the Bayou so I've accepted them as my #2 SEC school)

I wouldn't mind seeing Anthony Johnson get it, but since a DT had it last year, I want it somewhere else. So I vote Craig Loston.

I've forgotten all about Craig. I'd personally vote for Lamin Barrow because that dude is a badass LB, but Loston is a badass DB and Johnson is an amazing DT. When do you think we will find out who gets it?

I honestly have no idea. I couldn't find a date, but it's passed down during the offseason. And whoever receives it is up to the player who wore it before. Matt Mauck gave it to Jacob Hester, who gave it to Richard Dickson, who gave it to Richard Murphy, who gave it to Brandon Taylor, who gave it to Bennie Logan.

So whoever Bennie Logan sees fit, that's who gets the honor.

I know, I love the tradition of it. Mauck was kinda cocky about it, but he deserved to be...he just won a national title!!!

What's the deal with the #18? I know there's something about it, but can you LSU fans give a little more specifics?

How long has it been around, etc?

It's just a tradition that started in 2004. No special meaning behind the number, other than who's expected to be a leader.
