Sabo's Madden 18 Completed CPU Gameplans Project

SABO'S MADDEN 18 COMPLETED CPU GAMEPLANS PROJECT

The main objective here is to play against the same team two straight times and seeing something different called each game... the problem with Madden right now is you get the same 40 plays every game... there are 60-70 plays a game not to mention you play some teams twice a season, so your saying out of 120-140 plays I'm only going to see the same 40? That's why I created the custom game plans....

I guarantee using these will make it feel like you're playing a completely different game every single time... The CPU will keep you on toes with a mixture of play calling like you were going against a SIM player online... I've yet to have someone try them out and say they didn't like the results...

Here's the system I applied to the gameplans on offense, keep in mind the game crashes if I overload it so I'm limited in the amount I can choose...

*Removed 4 Verts and Curl Flats
*Selected 18 formations that the team used more than once in their best offensive performance last season using the All 22 film for gamepass
*Picked little over 200 plays per team
*Incorparated formation/plays that have formations built in

Every teams offensive playbook has been uploaded and ready to be used.

How I rated that plays based on D&D

1ST DOWN/2ND LONG/2ND MED/2ND SHORT/3RD SHORT/4TH SHORT

All 200 plays selected.
1 star for all running plays (3 star running for Dallas and Tennesse)
1/2 star for all passing plays

3RD LONG

3 star Shotgun pass plays only
removed all PA/short passes
1/2 star all Shotgun draw/screen passes
removed all run plays except draws

3RD MED

3 star all Shotgun pass plays only
1/2 star all Shotgun run plays & screens

4TH LONG/4TH MED

3 star Shotgun pass plays

How to use in Offline CFM when controlling one team

1. Must have/Create a 2nd PSN profile and own a 2nd controller before doing anything else
2. Download the playbooks under the 2nd profile account only
3. Make sure franchise setting for INSTANT STARTER is OFF
4. Create new character on the team you're about to play again

IF YOU WANT TO USE FORMATION SUBS DO THIS FIRST, IF NOT SKIP TO STEP 5
A) Create the opposing HC FIRST
B) Set Formation Subs
C) "Retire" HC

5. Select an active player (preferably 3rd string QB because he never plays)
6. Before game starts take 2nd controller to opposing team and pick custom book DON'T MOVE BACK TO MIDDLE
7. Play game
8. Retire player after the, he will NOT actually retire
9. Repeat next week

re: Simulation Football Playcalling 18: Fixing the CPUs Predictable Gameplans

From just a small sample size I will say I have been pleasantly surprised in the variation of play calling by the CPU and some of the new plays they call on the offensive side. Defensively however, the CPU is horrible! Calling cover 0 on 3rd and longs, way too much cover 1, etc... I'd say defense is a must fix 1st and foremost. Maybe setting a few CPU defensive books like 4-3 base, 3-4 base, blitz hey, cover 2 heavy, & cover 3 heavy. Make sure the man plays are cover 2 & safety blitzes are zone blitzes...

That's the strategy... I'm gonna go with

4-3
4-3 Blitz
Tampa 2
Cover 3
3-4
3-4 Blitz
Hybrid

Just having a hard time finding 2016 Blitz % stats...

Gonna elimate all cover 1 press/cover 0/engage eights because the CPU doesnt call based off down and distance but rather just situation...

1)CPU Playcalling
2)CPU QB Accuracy
3)CPU QB Pocket awareness

Luckiy problems 2 and 3 can be fixed via some combination of sliders/difficulty settings from all of the gurus on this site... Which gives me the free time to focus on the true core issue with CPU gameplay, the PLAYCALLING!

Madden developers have done a beautiful job of creating playbooks to the best of the abilities with the games engine... But for the life of me I don't understand why in the world they don't actually put it to use...

Here's where my recereating of the playbooks comes in to play and completely changes the dynamic of the CPUs playcalling... Basically elimating the redundancy of the same plays called over and over while also having teams play closer to their true identies...

Here's a link to last season's results and for those that are interested of how it might work, I recently uploaded some test ones on Madden 17 for PS4...

Sabo's Custom CPU Gameplans PS4

This year I'm gonna start with some defensive books and work my way to offense... It's a pretty time consuming project so it might take awhile to get to every team but I'll defintely try my best...

Now for some reason the game would crash after putting in a certain amount of plays, so i'll be experimenting at first...Will need the help of my fellow OSers in finding if it does...
I think part of the problem is knowledge. I had a conversation with Clint about the Patriots play calling, and he was convinced (along with several other people) they they run a balanced offense. I dug deeper into the statistics, while EA Tiburon did not: the reality is that the Patriots are a pass first team that gets huge leads and sits on the ball in the 4th quarter. Almost without fail when games are close (within ten points), the Patriots are passing around two thirds of the time. But in games where they have more than a two score lead, they run the ball almost sixty percent of the time. The end result is they finish in the top half of balanced play calling, but the problem is HOW they get there.

Madden doesn't take into account the situation. As long as the game is close, the Patriots run an extremely pass heavy attack. That means their standard mode of operation is as a pass firt team. They don't become a run first team unyil they have the game in hand. Yes, there are two or three exceptions (like when Brady was suspended, and a couple of other games), but if you troll through their play by play over the last few years like I did, the pattern is clear: in the first three quarters they pass the ball A LOT, and in the 4th quarter, when they usually are close to wrapping up the game, they run a lot.

So EA Tiburon should start there. Stop basing play call tendencies on a dead number and start basing it on dynamic statistics that take situation into account. If the Patriots do not have a sizeable lead, they are NOT a balanced offense. They just happen to be so good that they get a lot of sizeable leads, resulting in more runs.
