Legendary Fighters

As I look around the sports gaming scene, I notice all of the games doing a really great job including the historical players into their games.

NBA 2K with full blown classic rosters, nearly every historical superstar player is available.

Madden has a long list of historical legends for MUT

NHL has recently added alumni teams with many legends.

MLB The Show with Diamond Dynasty legends.

I feel UFC really needs to step up in this area. Especially when you consider how the 2K developers are able to not only get legends in the game, but nail their animations along a detailed active roster in the hundreds.

-We should have every past champion from every weight class. (not as long a list as you might think). Guys like Jens Pulver, Rich Franklin, Frank Shamrock all in their prime.

-Pride Legends should be available, guys like Fedor, Bob Sapp, Etc.

Re: Legendary Fighters

It mostly comes down to what likeness the ufc owns since it deals exclusively with independent contractors like wwe.

That's why gameface is so cool check the caf thread.

Fedor, and Bob Sapp have never signed a UFC contract.

You can't put my face in a video game just cause I fought in an organisation 20 years ago that got bought by your company.

Bob Sapp was in UD3, though.

Ah, true. well ya got me. And Fedor probably signed a EA contract for EA MMA.

But my point was that the old fighters would have to sign new contracts to be in UFC 4. If EA wants Mike Tyson in UFC 4, it doesn't matter that he was in UFC 2, they would have to offer him a brand new deal.

That's not the case with Tony Ferguson. He signed his likeness away when he signed the new UFC contract.

All the active UFC fighters did.

I’m sure there are hurdles for signing certain guys for the game. But don’t all the other developers have similar issues? I’m not entirely familiar with how much retired players of the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL can control their likeness being used in games.
