Though I highly doubt that'd happen...
Easy there.

Hogan joining the NWO was easily the biggest swerve in Wrestling history. Nexus is good but it is nowhere near the level of the NWO.

I just watched the Youtube of the promo....

Read some of this thread and now will be watching wrestling again... I stopped watching when the rock left.

I really wanted to see him make some sort of pancake reference.

My day was back in the late 80s till well 7 years ago. Might have to watch wrestlmania with one of my boys now as well. I remember when NWO first started and then how WCW screwed that up with LWO and whatever WO they added which brought me back to WWF and boy those were good times!!!!

welcome back rock!!!

Also, could someone explain "Attitude ERA" to me. I see it referenced, but have no idea what it means.

Attitude Era = 1997-2001 or so. Monday Night Wars, edgier programming, etc.

@ SEGAGENDUDE...

I think that Cena will be the one to join Nexus at Wrestlemania. Thats just my gut feeling now that The Rock is back.

I dunno...I don't really see the Rock's return as anything that will have any significant impact on story-lines beyond WM.

I'll be happy to be wrong, of course, but I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves due to the excitement of seeing him back. I think it's simply what it was advertised as: a build-up to his involvement in WM (and probably foreshadowing to Miz/Cena at WM as well) but I don't know that he's too heavily involved in much going forward from there.

I believe its more than just the excitement of seeing him back with the WWE.

At least for me, it had to do more with what HE SAID, that gives me hope that he'll be here past Mania. He said he's never, ever going away. That he's back. That he was able to make his dreams come true away from the ring. He threw shots at Miz or Cena hinting at a feud between them. He even has new merchandise and new theme music. lol

If I can remember correctly, he did not say anything like he said on Monday the last time he came back for WM to help Foley against Evolution.

Matter of fact, this return is more like his return as Hollywood Rock. He cut a long engaging promo just like Monday. And he stayed for an extended time. And even during that promo, he never said that he's "never, ever going away."

It just really seems like he'll stick around this time. That it wont be just a one and done type deal.

He can take over the GM spot (from what I'm now guessing is the female that foot belonged to...Stephanie?) no problem.

Even a mention on PTI.

I wasn't implying that he's "one and done"...just that I don't know that his shots at the Miz or Cena (particularly Cena, given the motivation behind it) meant much for beyond WM. Merchandise and themes don't mean much either IMO, as I'd be more shocked if the WWE didn't try to capitalize on the Rock's presence in such ways.

He might very well stick around for awhile, but he's also said on more than one occasion, that he wasn't interested in coming back to wrestle, etc. So it's tough for me to see WWE shaping long-term feuds or heel/face changes around him at this point.

"Never going away" doesn't mean he's back to working a full time schedule. It could mean a lot of things (and personally I get the feeling some-not all, but some-of that was more raw emotion spilling out after such a long absence...but who knows). I took it more like a simple promise to not wait several years between appearances.

I expect his involvement to be more along the lines of spot appearances or, if he is going to work a more steady schedule for awhile, as GM. Maybe he works a match or two, but I just don't see (again, based on what he has always said) him being heavily involved in those type of feuds/story lines.

In fact, for the short term, I can see him involving himself in a Miz/Cena WM match and then maybe, if he does indeed stay on camera steadily for awhile, "feuding" with the Raw GM and maybe exposing him/her and taking over the spot for a bit. I just don't see anything to suggest a long term wrestling based feud is all.

That's not a bad thing, as the Rock on the mic is far more valuable going forward than Rock in the ring for the WWE IMO. You can still press the younger/newer talent and still reap the benefits of one of the best (if not the best) promo guys ever. Win-win.

I just have a more "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality, is all. A lot of people say things in the heat of the moment, and after 7 years away, you could see a lot of emotion there. You could very well be right though. As I said, I'll be happy to be wrong if he is indeed sticking around. Maybe those emotions of being back made him change his mind and want to be more consistently involved and even wrestle a bit. We'll see. It'll be good to have him back in whatever capacity for awhile, at least.
