Guess I was hoping for something that I might actually like. Not so damn controlled. That felt 100% WWE and 0% Fox. Punk said in interviews that he's not going to just support and go along with storylines if they suck. That ain't this.

Re: WWE Off-Topic

So Bray Wyatt tweeted that he forgives Seth for what he did because it's in his nature. But the best part of it was the last line was

"How did you find me? Are you dead?"

It's like the fun house is purgatory and Bray himself is stuck there and can only get out by manifesting the Fiend.

Then again, it's 4am and I don't know wtf I'm ramblin' on about.

Re: WWE Off-Topic

Big Dave made a good point today...said we've been spoiled by production values the last 20 years and if the shows aren't produced expensively like WWE and AEW, we tend to look at them as minor league, no matter how good the wrestling is. And while obviously not everyone is going to feel that way, this is EXACTLY how I feel about the weekly NXT TV show. From what I've read, since AEW's debut, a lot of people give the edge to NXT 2-1 in terms of the quality of the shows. However for many people like me, I can't stand the full sail arena/crowd and I also can only handle so much Mauro. Dude shouts way too much for my liking.

If NXT had their weekly shows like their Takeover shows, obviously I think it would be a huge help...the problem is I don't think they can fill big arenas on a weekly basis, right?

Re: WWE Off-Topic

It's the WWE effect of brainwashing people into associating big spectacle and big presentation with great pro wrestling. And I think some people feel if a wrestling show looks more big budget then they somehow feel it's less embarrassing to be watching it. Which, **** that.

At this point in my pro wrestling fandom I couldn't give a damn about big arenas and how things look on TV. My favorite wrestling shows to watch every week now are at small venues. NJPW is different because the fans are different, but they do their fair share of shows in small arenas too.

On its own, NXT looks fine at Full Sail. If you switch channels between it and AEW? The difference in atmosphere alone immediately stands out.

Not saying touring would be a gamechanger to the overall show (obviously writing and the actual matches are bigger factors) but it would look better, and presentation matters. Writing something like that off as WWE brainwashing is just a weak deflection.

Re: WWE Off-Topic

But that the whole point of "sports entertainment". Its not just wrestling. It's a combination of everything like the wrestling, promos, gear, music, production and all that.

Saying people have been "spoiled" might not be best term to use. Production has increased because better technology is available and they have more money to spend.

As for wrestling as a whole, obviously there'll be people better at certain things than those in wwe, but you can't expect people to treat other things as the big time too.

The consensus seems to be though that NXT for years now and currently still has great writing/matches. I can somewhat attest because the random Takeovers I've tuned into, I only recall one where I was bored or "meh" about. The rest I was genuinely enjoying despite not even knowing the backstory for a lot of the matches. So if that's true, it's kind of ridiculous how WWE doesn't do NXT any favors because a lot of people view it as an inferior/developmental/non-important brand and that's their own fault. Putting it on USA Network is a start but they gotta take up the production values if they want it to be a legit 3rd brand IMO.

I can't help but wonder if AEW wasn't touring that it may feel like another TNA/IMPACT rather than the WWE alternative it feels like now.

They're in a weird spot with NXT. They have to keep it small to keep the 'anti-WWE' vibe they're going for, but because of that just looks lesser than when compared to AEW airing against it. I think the production values are fine. For me it's more the visual comparison between venues.

Yeah, this is probably right. Good thing AEW recognized that if you want to be taken as a big deal you have to look like a big deal.
