Re: Raw 12/31/12 - Believe in the Shield

Decent final show of the year. The highlight of the night for me was Big Show vs Ricardo! MOTY!! Ricardo actually pulled off some good moves, the crowd was loving it!

What's getting to me in WWE is the repetitiveness of the commentary. how many times over the last few months have we heard Wade Barrett was a bare knuckle fighter, Ziggler wrestled at Kent State, or that Tamina is the daughter of Jimmy Superfly Snuka. (every single match she's in) it's the same facts over and over again, as if we didn't know. also i have heard Cole and Lawler use the exact same jokes over and over again. There was also some forced laughing from Cole, things that were not even close to funny and he's laughing hysterically. even lawler seemed to be thinking "okay cole it wasn't that funny". and also there was another heart attack joke made by lawler. oh and also a lot more commentary mistakes, like cole called antonio cesaro "sandow" during the match.

wade barrett winning the Intercontinental Title. eh, was it really that good of a match with Kofi? They have no in-ring chemistry together, then again who does with Barrett? The Punk stuff? well I'd like to hear from the Punk fans if they like the way this is going? the injury?

next week we have a WWE Title Match TLC match between Ryback and Punk OR a match between Ryback and Heyman IF the WWE officials examine Punk and do not allow him to compete? how scientific is this? one week he's on crutches and can't put any weight on his leg, the next week he will be healed right in time for the match. so next week, if i had to guess, i would say Punk will be cleared by WWE officials to compete in the TLC match. And the Rock is in the building? What are the chances that RAW next week end's with a face to face between Rock and Punk? Maybe Rock will interfere, maybe he'll even climb up the ladder and hand the title to Punk. how can Punk climb a ladder though? if can't even put any weight on his leg. If he climbs up a ladder and grabs the title the next week, he was obviously faking his injury!! If he cannot compete, then he is not a fighting champion's champion as he claims! oh WWE!

I agree about the commentary being repetitive. We don't need to be told things we already know every week. I appreciate that there are new viewers tuning in but if they watch for a few weeks they will find these things out eventually.

However, in the commentators' defence, with all the shows they do it must be quite hard to find different things to say about people like Barrett who wrestles a lot.

I thought Cena's promo was good at the end. When he gets in that defiant mood he does raise his game. It was a good point to bring up Dolph being in WWE for a long time. You do forget that he hasn't just emerged. His first match working as Dolph Ziggler was 2008 I believe.

It just shows that he really has made the most of his opportunities over the years. He really is damn good, and with the right feud (Cena maybe), his career could skyrocket.

It's the dumbing down of the product. Just like the dumbing down of everything else.

It's happening for a reason. They don't HAVE to do any more than that because we don't demand them to.

.......anyway, Barrett winning the belt was quite a surprise. Didn't figure they'd have a title change on a throwaway show.

Probably was to keep ratings from being any worse than they would ordinarily on a holiday. They advertised the title change on WWE.com days ago. Seems like it could go both ways. People watch to see if he won clean, or people don't watch because they already know.

good post, although i didn't say anything about Ziggler not emerging. i actually thought Ziggler's promo was great about John Cena's year and how he lost match after match after match. and yeah i do like seeing defiant Cena, it does raise his game and it's was good to see.

as far as the commentary, it's not really a knock on lawler, cole, or even JBL. i actually think JBL has done a pretty good job for the most part. frankly, it's pretty amazing lawler has come back from his health scare. most people i don't think thought lawler would be back so soon if ever when he had the heart attack. but then again i think the heart attack was because of his busy schedule, the fact that he was wrestling a lot, both in WWE and outside of WWE. i think the repetitiveness of the commentary is a sign of the times. Cole called Cesaro "Sandow" during his match on raw, and never corrected himself nor was corrected. Cole is a better commentator then that. he usually doesn't make those mistakes.

Re: Raw 12/31/12 - Believe in the Shield

So did anybody else noticed that WWE spoiled they're own show again? I was looking at the WWE mobile app yesterday afternoon and under the superstars section where it lists the current champions, Wade Barrett was listed as Intercontinental Champion despite the fact the show was about seven or eight hours away from airing.

Then the Mae Young thing. Like...how the hell do Vince and company sit up in they're creative meetings and actually think anybody, anywhere will actually like that ****?
