Re: AEW Discussion Thread

Yeah, since NJPW isn't going to be working with them it opens up other possible partnership and talent in Japan coming in.

It's a good time to be a wrestling fan, in spite of WWE being what they are right now.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread

Jericho has made it known that while he's signed with AEW, he'll still be working with NJPW. I'd imagine there'll be some other guys (PAC) that will have flexibility to work with other promotions, especially in the short term, as it looks like 2019 will be centered around tentpole shows while they finalize TV and flesh out the roster.

This all so exciting.

PAC has been using that character on the indies since he returned to wrestling. PAC is his Neville, King of the Cruiserweights character cranked to an 11. It’s awesome.

I know a couple things that were also said were they were currently partnered with a Chinese wrestling organization and that any AEW talent injured in the ring would be covered.

I'm thinking they could do 2-3 PPVs, and then start TV next year. Personally I'm not in a hurry to see what the TV product will look like. They're probably going to run an arena in Jacksonville for all their TV, a la TNA/Impact. I'm just excited for the PPVs.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread

According to Meltzer, The Young Bucks turned down an INSANE offer from WWE.

"Paul Levesque worked hard at getting all four into WWE. Page was offered main roster money to work NXT, where he’d have been pushed as one of its top stars. The Bucks & Cody were offered strong deals. The Bucks deal was for money roughly the same as WWE champion A.J. Styles, which would have also included BTE being made a regular weekly show on the WWE Network, as well as something I’ve never heard WWE concede on, which was a six-month window where they could have left their three-year contract if they wanted and weren’t happy with their push."

Re: AEW Discussion Thread

WWE aren't stupid. They knew if The Bucks signed there's a decent chance they'd probably fall in line like everyone else. They'd enjoy touring in front of bigger houses, being bigger stars on social media, and just sort of grin and bear the dumb booking. The 6 month out part isn't as crazy as it sounds in that context.

And WWE can throw AJ Styles money at them with zero problem, because it would mean taking away Elite competition from other promotions.

Re: AEW Discussion Thread

You make it so sound so simple to turn down #MillionsOfDollars while being on the biggest stage.
