Inside Gaming was speculating that 2k might be cutting their losses by releasing a game that fullfills contract obligations, but investing less and less money and time into it.

Sort of like a reverse Fantastic Four to keep the contract with Sony, instead this one is to get rid of it.

I guess that's a possibility. Looks more to me like 2K underestimated Yukes' experience and is just in over their head right now.
