I’ve played and watched a lot of Lego video games with my kids. Some of have been fantastic with many being fun. Most use the same formula with a few twists. The original games did not have screen tearing so you had to share the same screen with your co-op partner. Later games had screen tearing, open world hubs and eventually real voice acting instead of grunts. All games have humour and puzzles and smashing. I don’t care about online so that component does not factor into the score. I will ... Read More

In so many ways EA’s NCAA Football is similar to MLB 2K on the 360. In both games the players don’t look and move right. The animations are poor and when you see a video of the gameplay you never think it looks real. Both games have had quite a few bugs the last few years and if you want to play the sport you love you only have one choice and it’s a flawed one.

Unlike some people I don’t consider either NCAA Football or MLB 2K to be horrible games. I did enjoy NCAA 09 and NCAA ... Read More

Blood Stone is a typical 3rd person shooter that features Daniel Craig as the rough and tumble Bond agent. The game puts a heavy emphasis on the story which is as good as a typical Bond movie. The graphics are decent with nothing to complain or rave about. Much of the focus is on taking cover and firing but stealth does play a significant role in the game. While you can choose to “crash the party” some areas are nearly impossible to defeat without using stealth. There are also quite a few racing ... Read More

I’ve read some really good things about this program. It doesn’t appear to be a "get-thin-quick-scheme" at all. It requires an intense amount of exercise as well as a good diet. It truly seems like a great thing for people to do. But do I have to see ads for it EVERYWHERE? I can’t go to a website without seeing a bunch of rollover ads where I can see before and after pictures of people on this program.

And what’s with these people in the before pictures? I know you are being ... Read More

Why do some players perform well in the clutch and why do some others “choke”? Are sports psychologists just a bunch of quacks or can they be helpful? I had the opportunity a little while ago to hear a presentation by a noted Canadian sports psychologist Dr. Peter Jensen. He works with Canadian Olympic athletes and is currently working with the women’s hockey team. He’s also worked with Fortune 500 companies and is an accomplished author. Being someone that knows very little about psychology, ... Read More

I can’t help but be annoyed at the amount of success the Wii has had over the last couple years. I shouldn’t be annoyed but I am. I guess I just don’t understand how an overpriced and underpowered toy box with a goofy controller can sell so many more consoles when compared to the 360 or PS3. Gaming sites have shown that 360 gamers actually play their games twice as much as people who have the Wii. The PS3 can play Blu Ray movies and both the PS3 and the 360 can be used to download HD movies. ... Read More

After two years since the release of Uncharted, Uncharted 2 comes out with a much bigger marketing campaign and great sales numbers but is it worthy of the hype?

The original Uncharted was a sleeper hit that eventually sold well over two million games. It was a third person shooter that featured a good shoot and cover system and solid gameplay. But what really sold people on the game was the story and character development throughout. This game felt like you were playing ... Read More

I’ve been an offline gamer all of my life. I’ve played only a handful of games online with a few against my nephew and only three or four randoms my entire life. Having some free time on this Canadian Thanksgiving I decided to fire up NCAA 09 and play a game online. I just played a random guy in a ranked game and it reminded me why I never play online.

The guy chose OhioState while I had Miami. I had no problem with that and he seemed like a better player than me. If he ... Read More

I've posted some impressions in the forums already but I'll put some greater detail out here for my early impressions. I must say I haven't gotten overly far in the game, probably about 2 or 2.5 hours in to the story but have done those parts over at least a few different times. I've had some issues with the autosave saving over some files (both myself and my son had campaigns going) so I've seen some things at least 4 times. Use the manual save when you have the game!! Autosave may be deadly! ... Read More

After playing the NCAA 10 demo, I was very unimpressed. There were a ton of glitches and problems that I found annoying. Of course we get treated with the same old excuse – the demo was cut from an older build and the retail version will be better. This is true, due to the lengthy certification process, but why release a buggy demo that could hurt potential sales? I think game companies would be better off releasing a demo a couple weeks after a game comes out that reflects the final game code ... Read More

I think the sales of this series have to be considered disappointing (if we assume VGChartz numbers are good) on next gen. NCAA 10 has sold 250,000 copies on the 360 and 150,000 copies on the PS3 in its first week. NCAA 09 sold 290,000 and 160,000 in their first weeks respectively. Despite the fact that the userbases are growing, the sales for the first week have declined by 50,000. Overall NCAA numbers have fallen quite hard as the last gen sales have dried up. Just looking at 360 sales of ... Read More

Gamers Come in All Shapes and Sizes

There are many types of gamers out there and it’s not just the casual gamer vs. the hardcore gamer. The hardcore gamer may know more about the sport they are playing and are certainly a better gamer than the guy who only plays a couple hours a week. But there are core differences within the hardcore and casual community as well. Not every hardcore gamer wants their football game to be a defensive slugfest. And not every casual gamer wants ... Trade in two games (I'm assuming an $8 minimum trade value like past offers) and you can get FNR 4, Tiger Woods 10 or NCAA 10 for only $19.99. Canadian games have all gone up to $69.99 so it's a nice $50 savings if you have a couple crappy qualifying games to turn in. Just thought I would give all the Canucks on here a heads up if they see it.

I'm still passing on NCAA 10 for now but may reconsider if the sliders are patched AND work well. I still want the old camera back but there ... Read More

inFamous is a great game. I loved the demo and bought the game. If you do all the side missions, collect the blast shards and get the dead drops it takes a long time. I've probably played around 20 hours and am only 43% done! I’m slow though as most people think you can finish off the game in about 20 to 25 hours if you rush. Collecting things like blast shards aren't just useless hunting expeditions though. They actually aid you in your ability to get more powerful.

This

It seems that every month someone is blogging about the need to have a new format for sports video games. Whether that's going to a bi-annual cycle or DLC content or something else, who freaking cares?

The guys that want companies like EA to adopt a bi-annual release for their sports games are just wasting their time. EA makes a ton of money releasing Madden and their big sports games every year. Sure going to a bi-annual release might make for a better game every two years but ... Read More
