Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners jump out to big lead and hold on to beat Rockies 9-6

Denver - The Mariners jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the Mile High city on Monday afternoon thanks to another home run barrage, but the bullpen struggled to put Colorado away, finally getting the save from Edwin Diaz in the ninth to get a 9-6 victory. Nelson Cruz was 3-5 on the day with a home run, while Kyle Seager again added to his total with his 19th dinger of the season. With the game well in hand, Mark Rzepczynski came in but couldn't find the strike zone walking three batters before finally getting yanked for Nick Vincent, who then gave up a three run homer that all of the sudden made the game interesting. Hisashi Iwakuma got win number seven on the season and dropped his ERA below 3 with six shutout innings. The Mariners look to sweep the road portion of this series tomorrow when they send former Rockie Christian Bergman (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound for his first start of the season. He'll face Kyle Freeland (3-3, 3.95 ERA). First pitch is at 4:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners fall to Rockies 9-3

Seattle - Ariel Miranda struggled giving up seven runs, and the Mariners couldn't capitalize with runners on falling to the Rockies at Safeco Field on Wednesday night. Kyle Seager tacked on two more RBI's in a bright spot for the Mariners, while the bullpen was able to quiet the Rockies bats after Miranda was pulled. Shawn O'Malley made another defensive miscue, and after the game was sent back down to Tacoma for Taylor Motter, as the Mariners can't afford bad defense from their bench guys who don't swing the bat well. Seattle will look to bounce back from the loss tomorrow when they send Yovani Gallardo (3-4, 5.09 ERA) to the mound to face off against Sonny Gray (3-4, 3.12 ERA). First pitch is at 12:40 pm

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners smack five home runs to down Rockies

Seattle - Kyle Seager hit two more home runs, and the Mariners tacked on three more as they were able to out last the Rockies 6-4 on Thursday afternoon. Yovani Gallardo went 6.1 innings after a shaky start in the first, but had to leave the game with some forearm tightness in the seventh. It got dicey from there as Steve Cishek couldn't close out the inning walking two batters, and it took four revilers overall including Edwin Diaz coming on to get save number 23 to close out the win. Seattle will now welcome the Tampa Bay Rays into town for a battle of first place squads. It will be Felix Hernandez (4-5, 4.59 ERA) taking the mound in the opener against Jake Odorizzi (4-3, 3.19 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

SEAGER CAN'T STOP

Mariners third baseman's unreal stretch continues with two more home runs in win

Seattle - Kyle Seager is hitting home runs at an unreal pace the last couple of weeks, as he smacked two more on Friday night, including the game winner in the eighth, as the Mariners rode their star to a 7-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Nelson Cruz, and Mitch Haniger also added solo shots, as the Mariners as a whole have really been blasting it out of the park lately. Seattle will look to continue their hot play tomorrow night when they send Hisashi Iwakuma (7-3, 2.99 ERA) to the mound against Blake Snell (3-1, 4.70 ERA). First pitch is at 7:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Rays down Mariners 9-5

Hisashi Iwakuma struggled through six innings giving up six runs, off of twelve hits, and the bullpen wasn't able to keep it close enough after that as the Mariners dropped the second game of this weekend series to the Rays. Dan Vogelbach, and Taylor Motter supplied the power for the M's as Motter was filling in for the red hot Kyle Seager who took the day off. Seattle will look to salvage the series tomorrow when they send Christian Bergman (1-0, 3.86 ERA) to the mound to face AL Wins leader Matt Andriese (8-2, 2.81 ERA). First pitch is at 1:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Rays take series from M's

Seattle - Matt Andriese continued his dominant start to the season, and Christian Bergman struggled in his second start for the Mariners, giving up seven runs, as the Rays blasted Seattle 11-3 to take the series at Safeco. Steven Souza Jr. finished a triple shy of the cycle with two doubles, a single, and a home run, collecting five RBI to do most of the damage for Tampa. While Robinson Cano collected a solo home run for the tired Mariner bats. Seattle continues the homestand on Tuesday when the Minnesota Twins come to town. It will be Ariel Miranda (3-4, 3.80 ERA) going up against Ervin Santana (5-3, 2.30 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm.
