Re: Pennsylvania A&T (NCAA 14 Teambuilder Dynasty)

Transfers

Freshman (RS) | Run Stopper | 65 OVR | 2013: 4 Total Tackles
Consensus: With a backlog at the MLB position at Colorado State, Nwosu wants to come a little closer to home. After having already redshirted in 2012, Nwosu will have a full year to get accustomed to the defense. Hits hard but his lack of speed and field awareness may hinder his defensive progression.
---------------------------

Sophomore | Hard Hitter | 67 OVR | 2013: 14 Total Tackles, 1 Pass Breakup
Consensus: A true sophomore, Misher will redshirt in 2014 and have an opportunity to fight for the starting spot in 2015 with Xavier Pippen. The D.C. native must have seen more promise in the Pennsylvania A&T future than at Old Dominion as he was projected to start at SS next year for the Monarch's.
---------------------------

Freshman | Pass Blocker | 71 OVR | 2013: 2 Pancakes, 3 Sacks Given Up
Consensus: Knighton purely wanted a reason to come back home as Pottstown is about an hour away to the Northeast of Lancaster. The former three-star prospect saw minimal time rotating in on the offensive line for the Hurricanes. It's hard to tell if he will stay at center for Penn A&T. He has great agility and labeled a "pass blocker;" with his size, it is very possible to see a move to the outside as Penn A&T's offensive line was flat out atrocious in their inaugural season.
---------------------------

Freshman | Balanced | 72 OVR | 2013: Redshirted
Consensus: After redshirting in 2013, Christian did not get what he wanted in Morgantown. The former four-star prospect from McKeesport, Pa. was ranked the 12th best prospect in the state out of high school. He will sit out 2014 but it is hard to believe that Howard will not have a starting spot locked down in 2015. For just a freshman, his awareness is above average and his size allows him to get to the ball fast and lay a big hit. Perfect fit for Penn A&T's 4-2-5 defensive scheme.
---------------------------

Freshman | Coverage | 75 OVR | 2013: Redshirted
Consensus:The 9th-ranked MLB in the Class of 2013 is looking for a fresh start and he chose Penn A&T. He probably would have seen significant time at WVU in 2014, after redshirting in 2013, but with Dana Holgorsen getting fired after just three seasons at the helm, Howard did not like the way things were trending in Morgantown. He hits hard and can get off blocks, something missing from the defense this past season in Lancaster. This kid is a stud and could probably wind up playing several positions for coach Taylor.

Coaches Take
DT Thomas Dillon
Keyser: "Tommy has been here for a few weeks now as he enrolled early. He originally came to me about wanting to play here. He chose us over some pretty big name programs, so what does that tell you about this kid? He's a gamer that wants to win and win now. He's quick off the snap and is mean on the field. Heart of gold off the field but he's ready to bust your butt when the pads are on."

DE Jonah Glover
Keyser: "Hidden gem. I know there's some schools in this area that are going to wish they recruited this kid but sorry, he's all ours. Yet another kid I've known about for years since he's from West Chester. His block shedding ability is scary. It's all technique though as we need him to get stronger to really be a force against good teams. If he had more speed, he'd be one hell of a middle linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. Smarts are all there and he may end up being the best freshman player we got this year."

HB De'Mario Almanza
Keyser: "It's no secret that we're hurting at running back. De'Mario knows there is things he needs to work on if he wants to contribute consistently and he's up to the challenge. Not the fastest, not the strongest but does the little things well."

G Mike McKinley
Keyser: "Our offensive line was embarrassing last year. We need some old school meet and potatoes type guys up front and Mikey is ready to go. His size alone attracted us."

CB Korey Skinner
Keyser: "My dude Korey. Talk about such a nice, good hearted person. He's a little undersized but his speed will help him adjust quickly. He needs to add a few pounds. Coach (Darin) Lucas spotted this kid one night and told me he's a project worth starting."

DB Adan Miles
Keyser: "Maryland is a necessity for us. Adan has been with a powerhouse program and he knows how to win. He's raw because he's dealt with some injuries in the past but we like where he is at currently. Our strength and conditioning staff will need to get him on an all-carb diet to bulk up a bit but when his size progresses, we like where his ability can take him."

SS Terrence Proctor
Keyser: "I've known about Proc for sometime now since New Castle is less than an hour away from West Chester where I used to be. Had a lot of hype heading into high school and suffered some setbacks. He's worked his tail off but still has a long way to go. We like this position group and think they can help him grow into the player we think he can be."

G Josh Bellamy
Keyser: "Josh was our first commit for this year. He's extremely underrated and has the size to be a real solid player for us. He's big but is really, really quick off the ball. Things we like and need. Again, our line needs some serious help, especially losing some guys this year."

------------------------------------------------

On the incoming transfers...

MLB Darrien Howard
Keyser: "Darrien approached us after his displeasure with how things were handled at his previous institution. This is a kid you build the program around. The transfer rules take place so unfortunately we have to wait a year to see him on the field, but man...he's going to be special."

OLB Hodari Christian

Keyser: "Small but fast. Things we like to see with our defensive sets. When I told Coach Taylor about this kid he may or may not have started crying tears of joy. Getting both he and Darrien from the same school will be fantastic to help them adjust to a new setting and we're all thrilled for their future's."

C Hunter Knighton
Keyser: "Hunter came to me and realized there was better things he could be doing and closer to home. Football down south is a lot different from up here in the north. He knows he needs to add some more weight but that's the easy part. Coach Collins can work his magic on this kid and in three years we have an offensive line that I'm not afraid to put out on the field."

SS Fellonte Misher

Keyser: "I cannot wait to get Fellonte on the field and hit somebody. I've seen some tape on him and my goodness. We can work on the other parts of his game, no doubt. But man, when I see his ability to hit the ballcarrier, Ed Reed. He and Xavier (Pippen) are going to have some fun battles."

MLB Danny Nwosu

Keyser: "We potentially have a two-way player for us here. He played receiver and linebacker in high school and did some nice things then. Focused on defense at Colorado State but decided it was best to return home. He's open to possibility of moving back to offense but we will see. He's a little more fit for some multiple schemes over our 4-2-5 main set."

Re: Pennsylvania A&T (NCAA 14 Teambuilder Dynasty)

Now comes the super long part. I'm going to do like I said in the OP. I'm going to take Hellisan's thread about progression and training and do it his way. This is going to help me from getting too good too quick but also make it a little more personal. All players with the exception incoming freshman (minus Thomas Dillon since he enrolled early) will get custom progression based on their "work ethic" rating that was assigned to them. The incoming freshman will receive their WE rating at the beginning of next season.

I am still debating on how to do transfers, since they technically would not be on campus for spring practice in real life, they would not be gaining progression points; however, if I would still use their WE rating for custom progression this season, it would be like them just working out and training all next fall.

If anyone reading this has any suggestions on how you think the transfers should progress based on this system, I'm all ears! Because it's going to take me some time go through all of this so it will be a few days before I post the results. I'm really looking forward to it though!

Maybe drop transfer's AWR very low since they're coming into a new system? I do the custom work ethic stuff in an offline dynasty and it's fantastic. I do my system a little differently than Hellisan. As far as I know, he resets all his players ratings which seemed like a big pain to try to do each year. So I've rolled my custom training into the training the game already gives them. Therefore, my scales are like this:

40-45 Work Ethic: -10 to -1
46-50: -9 to -1
51-55: -9 to 0
56-60: -8 to 0
61-65: -8 to 1
66-70: -7 to 1
71-75: -7 to 2
76-80: -7 to 3
81-85: -6 to 4
86-90: -5 to 5
91-95: -4 to 6
96-99: -3 to 7

My reasoning here is that training from the game add between 4-5 points to each players OVR each year. So, I've worked that into my scales. What I do is record a player's new overall after the offseason training and then I roll their "real" increases/decreases. If a player was +6 after the in game offseason and he then rolls a -4, I edit them down four OVR points in the preseason. If a player is a +5 after the in-game offseason and then rolls a +5, I add 5 OVR points in the preseason.

What I like about my method is that players can still lose OVR even after their in-game training and I don't have to roll back their attributes to what they were at the end of last season which saves me time. A player can have +5 in game training but a terrible WE and roll a -8 and come into the following season three points worse than they were last year. I like that. I also believe that in real life players don't get worse than their previous years, they just don't grow as fast as other players in terms of mental skills/physical skills. I think my methods align with that thinking, too.

And I have different focuses for my gains/losses, too, like physical, mental, all around, etc. Those are just me kind of winging it on what I think fits in each category (physical for an OL will be different than physical for a CB). If you've messed around creating recruits or editing players before, you get a pretty quick feel for how many subtractions from various categories will change a players OVR. I can edit my roster in probably 30-40 minutes with this method; I think Hellisan's method would add a couple hours on top of that, which I wasn't into (but I appreciate his thorough nature, for sure).
