Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Transfer News

As the season moves past January 1 the transfer window is officially open. Unfortunately for QPR that means the 1 year loan deal with Josh Onomah has expired and Onomah has returned to Tottenham. Wolters was very open about wanting to resign Josh as he has built a very good connection in midfield with Ryan Mason. But Spurs asking price was too high as they value Onomah over 7 million pounds. QPR are rumored to only have around 4 million to spend this window unless they can sell some of the bench players they have.

"Josh's loan was great for us and I believe it was very good for his development. He helped us gain promotion last season and scored some key goals towards the end of the year. Sadly he suffered the torn ACL that put him out 8 months but he did play 2 games for us this season and was vital in our victory over Man City. I am sad to see him go but I am confident others will step up to fight for his spot." Max Wolters would not talk about any other transfer targets QPR are looking at as word from the board is they must sell players before bringing in others.

Players who might be sold are Goss, Mackie, Luongo, Shodilpo and Lynch. With their higher wages and grumbles of losing playing time, QPR could look to offload these players to increase their budget to strengthen the attacking area of the squad.

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Premier League
Week 20
Man City v QPR

Pre-Match

For the third time this season QPR will play Manchester City. Splitting the first two matches with each winning at home. QPR will be going to Man City for this league match, coming off a disappointing loss at Anfield. QPR will be limited in the attack as Iheanacho will have to sit out vs his loan club and Sylla is still recovery from an ankle injury suffered last match. Che Adams will be getting the start in this one.

Match
QPR were behind minutes into the match as Ryan Mason picked up a red card in the first minute when he slid in for a 50/50 ball and took out Aguero. The game plan quickly changed for Wolters as he was forced to play 89' with 10 men vs one of the best attacking teams in the league. But no matter how many defenders were in the box, Man City found a way to score. The first coming from a De Bruyne free kick in the 22', followed by a Jesus rebound tap in just before half. Down 2-0 at the break, Wolters took off a defender for an attacker to try changing the tempo of the match.
But his plan backfired as City continue to slice through the QPR defense adding 2 more goals to make it 4-0 before the 75'. Ngbakoto added a penalty in the 84' to make it 4-1 but that would be the only bright spot for QPR in this one.

Post Match
Reporter: "Going down to 10 men in the first minute, what did that do to the rest of the match?"
Wolters: "Well obviously it changed the whole plan. We wanted to come out and press the issue, not sit back like most clubs do against City. But with 10 men we could not continue with that plan."
Reporter: "Was the red card correct?"
Wolters: "It was a hard tackle. In the first minute I would hope the ref was a little more lenient but he thought it was a red so it's a red."
Reporter: "This result drops you to 14th in the table. What can you do to improve from this result to move up the table?"
Wolters: "I think it is still too early to be looking at the table. They say 40pts is safe, we are past 20 at the half way point so we are on track with what we wanted this season. The results will come if we continue to play the way we have been playing..I hope."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Club News
London - Rumors are swirling around Loftus Road as Max Wolters and the board of Tune Group have been disagreeing on more and more with the future of the club. The QPR board members believe Wolters could be doing more with the youth academy. While Wolters camp has been asking for more funds to keep the squad at a level to compete in the Premier League.

"Losing Josh Onomah because the board would not give up another 3 million pounds did not sit well with Wolters. Losing who he believes was a key player over such a small fee drove him nuts." sources say as Onomah returned to Tottenham this week with his loan expiring.
In the 18 months Wolters has been with QPR, he has earned promotion by winning the Championship, promoted three players from the youth squad and completely changed the roster. QPR are now in 14th place in the Premier League and have brought in 8 million more than they have spent.

But with all of this, the board wants more. They have asked Wolters to sell De La Silva because he is on high wages and only a rotation player currently. But Wolters refused, saying Silva is a key part of his plans going forward. Wolters is currently sitting on a 63 manager rating but he could walk soon if the board does not find middle ground in this January window.

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

FA Cup
Round 3
QPR v Crystal Palace

Pre-Match

QPR draw Crystal Palace in the third round of the FA Cup. Playing another Premier League team and another London team makes this round a difficult draw for the R's but Max Wolters is confident his team will come out strong at home.

Match

The match was off to a quick start as Che Adams scored in the 15' on a break away through ball from Da Silva Lopes. The possession belonged to QPR in the first half as they went into the break up 1-0 with 64% of the ball. Crystal Palace came out attacking after the break, scoring in the 48' from a Ledley volley outside the box. The rest of the match was a back and forth battle of possession as neither team could find an edge.
With a hero needed at the end, it was Da Silva Lopes who stepped up and scored for QPR in the 89' to give them the win. The guy who was requested to be sold by the board only days before the match, came through and proved Max Wolters right and showed his worth in the end.

Post Match

Reporter: "You couldn't ask for a better ending then that. Can you?"
Wolters: "A win is terrific, advancing in the cup, winning a derby at home and scoring at the last minute. It was a terrific match."
Reporter: "And the goal scorer, the man who you were asked to sell on Wednesday?"
Wolters: "We don't worry about that. The guys know when they are selected in the lineup to give their best and that is what everyone did tonight. We are happy to win and move on."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Premier League
Week 23
QPR v Liverpool

Pre-Match

QPR travelled to Liverpool a short month ago and fell 4-2 at Anfield. With the club in disarray a result over a top 3 club is all it will take to get the fans back on the side of Wolters.
Match
85 minutes of back and forth football as the score was tied 1-1 going into the 86 minute. QPR pressing for the win as they are looking at a relegation battle with Liverpool pushing for a win to stay in the top 4. A great chance for QPR to take the lead as Mason cut into the box but his header hit the post. Liverpool took the long rebound and set up a quick counter attack. Mane found space at the top of the box and beat Smithies far post to give Liverpool the 2-1 lead with only minutes to go.

Post Match
Reporter: "Crushing defeat to lose in this manner and to make it 5 straight without a win."
Wolters: "Yes it has been a tough stretch. We have played some great matches but cannot find a way to come out on top lately."
Reporter: "The loss drops you to 16th in the table. Any worry about relegation?"
Wolters: "Of course, there is always a worry. But we can't focus on that, we have to focus on getting results."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Premier League
Week 24
Man United v QPR

Pre-Match
Max Wolters has been on the hot seat for a month now and QPR have not performed during that time. With his manager rating falling under 30 and the club not picking up a league win in 5 straight matches. These next two weeks of matches at Man United and vs Arsenal in the FA cup could seal his fate.
Match
If the players were playing for their manager today, they did not show it. United went up 1-0 within 5 minutes off a Jesse Lingard goal and quickly followed with a second goal coming from Pogba. The match was over by half time as QPR were only able to manage 2 shots in the match and fell 4-0.
Post Match
Max Wolters did not show up for his post match interview.
