Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Coming over the dramatic midweek win in the EFL cup, QPR travel to Sheffield to take on Sheffield Wednesday in the 2nd match of the Championship. Wolters rotated the squad for the midweek match and now the main starters are back in with Che Adams earning himself a start after his hat-trick against Portsmouth.

It's a 3-5-2 for the R's with Smithies in goal. Hall and Robinson are the outside CB's with the captain Onuoha in the middle. Wszolek and Adegbenro are the wide wingers with Onomah and Luongo sitting in the defensive midfield positions with Ryan Mason in the attacking role. Two strikers today as Sylla will start on the left and Adams on the right.

0' Kickoff. We are underway with QPR in the white and blue while Sheffield Wed are in the dark yellow and black.
6' MISS. The home side were almost on the sheet first as Hall clears away a cross but only to the edge of the box were Bannan is waiting but his first time strike sails over the bar.
8' GOAL - Josh Onomah
The away side score first on their first attempt of the night. Ryan Mason sends in a cross from the corner that's cleared out of the box, QPR did a quick two passes around the box to find Onomah who sends a perfect strike low and hard into the bottom corner.
16' GOAL - Josh Onomah
It's the former Spur again to make it 2-0! Onomah was set up perfect but the other former Tottenham academy player, Ryan Mason as Mason leaves a simple pass in the middle of the box were Onomah taps it in. The away team is flying right now.
43' DOUBLE SAVE! Sheffield Wednesday show some life right before half as Bannan tries a header that's saved by Smithies. Smithies makes a great second save to deny Boyd on the rebound.
45+2' Halftime. The home side have shown a few attacking moments but QPR have dominated much of the half.
53' CHANCE! Sheffield Wednesday have come out aggressive in the second half and had a great chance to get on the scoring sheet but Boyd misses the ball completely with an open net in front of him.
64' GOAL - Bannan
Sheffield Wednesday's aggressive play has finally paid off as Bannan, the main attack for the Owls tonight finally found the net. QPR's defense backed off for only a minute and Bannan took a shot just outside the 18 yard box to beat Smithies high and to the right.
71' GOAL - Hutchinson
GAME ON! The Owls come storming back to make it 2-2 with 19 minutes to go. This time off a corner where QPR completely switch off and Hutchinson is left all alone on the far post for the easiest header you will see. Hillsborough Stadium is going wild!
74' GOAL - Sylla
What a response by the London side! It's Idssa Sylla with a lovely goal off Ryan Mason's second assist of the night. Mason sends in a chest high cross that Sylla controls on a spin and fires low into the left corner to put QPR back on top.
90' SAVE Smithies denies Boyd of a chance to steal a point with a routine save as Sheffield Wednesday waste what looks like their final chance of the night.
90+3' Final. Sheff Wed 2-3 QPR. It was a thrilling match with 5 goals but the away side deserved the victory and will be happy with the attacking performance.

Max Wolter Post-Match: "The guys fought hard tonight, I think we showed some strong character to score the third goal after giving up 2 quick ones. We could have hung our heads and saw out a draw at 2-2 but instead the guys came together and responded like winners do. Very proud of the result."

Transfer News

QPR have agreed to terms with Norwich City in the Premier League for James Maddison. The 20 year old midfielder will cost the R's just over 4m pounds after a few unsuccessful bids. QPR had around 4.3m to spend in the window and will be making their final signing of the summer with this move.

The club and player have not yet agreed on a deal but one is expected to be announced after the upcoming Bournemouth match.

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Only a few changes for Wolters today as QPR look to extend the winning streak to 3 games. Jamie Mackie is in for Wszolek on the right wing while Ngbakoto starts on the left in replace of Adegbenro. The last change is on defense where Robinson is benched for Lynch at LCB. QPR are staying with the 3-5-2 formation.

0' Kickoff. Two sides looking to get back into the top league this season after both being relegated last year. QPR in the blue and white while the Cherries are in their home black and red.
27' SAVE. Ryan Mason was denied a great scoring chance as he broke through the two CB's for a one on one but Begovic stood his ground and deflected the shot outside the post.
34' Miss! Jermaine Defoe took a chance from distance but his shot bounces just outside the post as he had Smithies beat. The Cherries are dominating possession and attempts right now as QPR are trying to hang on until half.
42' Off the POST! Bournemouth are getting closer as Wilson finds room in the box but his shot goes off the post and is cleared away by Lynch for a Cherries corner. The crowd is booming as they are looking for a goal before the break.
45' GOAL!- Harry Arter You knew it was coming, the home side had QPR on the back foot the last 20 minutes of the half. Harry Arter put Eddie Howe's side on top with the most difficult attempt of the night with a shot from outside the box.
45+1' Halftime. Wolters has some key changes to make as QPR have been completely outplayed in the first half and trail 1-0 at the break.
63' CHANCE! What a miss by Onomah! The QPR midfield who scored twice last game cannot believe he missed this header that would have made it 1-1. Plenty of space in the box with only 1 defender on him, Mackie finds Onomah for a header with half the goal open in front of him but the young midfielders attempt goes wide.
90' SAVE Mason had an attempt denied in the opening minutes and now again in the final minute as he tries to beat Begovic near post but the keeper sends it out for a corner.
90+2' SAVE That should do it! Begovic dives onto the ball in a crowd as QPR threw everything they had at the corner, even bringing up the keeper. After a few mad seconds of the ball bouncing in front of the net, Begovic takes control and gives the Cherries the win.
90+3' Final. Bournemouth 1-0 QPR. The Cherries scored right before half and that was enough as the home side defense completely shutout the London side.

Max Wolter Post-Match: "It was a tough match and the result is hard to swallow. They were the better side for most of the match but we really came alive late and had some big chances. Begovic is a great keeper and saved the day for them today with those last minute saves."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

QPR look to bounce back after the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth as they come back to Loftus Road to take on Hull City. Wolters has decided to stay with the 3-5-2 formation but has made 8 changes to the starting lineup.
Smithies stays in goal with a new 3 in front, Furlong playing RCB with the young American Palmer-Brown getting the start in the middle and Robinson back in at LCB. Wszolek is back in at RW, with Goss, Mason and Luongo in the middle and Ssewankambo getting the rare start at LW. Sylla and Adams are both in need of a rest as Da Silva Lopes and Adegbenro get the nod in the two striker positions.

0' Kickoff. The R's come out in their home blue and white with Hull City in the typical orange and black.
3' CHANCE! Ryan Mason's first shot comes only minutes into the match but a sliding block deflects his shot just over the bar for a QPR corner. The corner is poor and cleared away with no danger.
17' GOAL - Abel Hernandez QPR have dominated but it's Hull City who score first. A long cross from the left is misplayed by Palmer-Brown leaving Abel Hernandez alone in the middle to head in the goal.
24' Injury The rough day keeps getting worse for the American as Palmer-Brown goes down with a injury and is subbed off holding his elbow.
45+1' SAVE! Wszolek has a great chance right before half but his low shot is saved by a diving keeper.
62' SAVE! Another great save by the Hull City keeper, this time denying Da Silva Lopes who made a great diving header but right into the keeper.
90' SAVE It is not QPR's night as Ryan Mason is denied yet another shot at drawing even. QPR have dominated the last 10 minutes but have nothing to show for it.
90+3' Final. QPR lose 1-0 again as the home fans start to boo the players off the pitch. Max Wolters needs to make some adjustments in the attack or else this season could be his last in London.

Max Wolter Post-Match: "Sometimes you have to give credit to the other side and this is one of those times. We were great for most of the match but couldn't find a goal. We made great looks and had a few really good chances, just wasn't going in tonight."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

After back to back losses in the league, QPR face Premier League side Burnley in the 2nd round of the Carabao cup. Burnley are 17th in the top league as QPR are 16th in the Championship.

James Maddison will be making his first start for the R's after the transfer was completed from Norwich. Wolters is changing to a 4-5-1 in this match with Ingram in goal, Kakay, Onuoho, Aidoo and Garmston as the back line. Jamie Mackie is on the right wing with Josh Onomah, Luongo and Maddison in the middle and Ngbakato on the left. Che Adams is getting the start as the lone striker after his hat-trick in the first round of the league cup.

0' Kickoff. Perfect weather for tonight's match in London as the crowd at Loftus Road are eager for the team to bounce back to winning ways.
12' SAVE! Shaky start for QPR as Burnley have controlled the first quarter of an hour, but Ingram keeps it goalless with a diving save from Walters shot and Gudmundsson sends the follow up off the post and out for a goal kick.
37' SAVE! The backup keeper for QPR comes up big again with a diving save to keep the score level.
45' MISS! Burnley earn a corner minutes before the half but Heaton's header goes wide right before the whistle as we go into the half 0-0.
74' GOAL! - Ngbakato Against the run of play QPR strike first with a bullet header from Ngbakato from James Maddison's corner. 1-0.
79' SAVE! Wonderful build up from Burnley as they work the ball around the box before playing it wide and sending in a cross. Hendrick wins the jump but heads it right into the chest of Ingram.
86' GOAL! - Ngbakato That should do it, Loftus Road is going wild as the lower league side take a two goal lead with 4 minutes remaining. It's Ngbakato again, this time playing a smooth 1-2 with Josh Onomah and scoring from just outside the box. 2-0.
90+1' Final. After a poor week in league play, QPR end on a high with the 2-0 win over Burnley as they move onto the 3rd round of the league cup.

Max Wolter Post-Match: "It was a great response from the guys after the two tough losses the past few games. Burnley are a strong side with a great defense and for us to score 2 against them, that is something we hope to build off of going into the next few matches."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Club News

After the win against Burnley in round 2 of the Carabao cup, QPR have drawn Hull City for the 3rd round which will be played in 3 weeks time. QPR lost to Hull 1-0 in league play once already this season.

Other team news, the club have announced Sean Goss is being sold to Rotherham United for 350,000 (pending on player contract). With the arrive of James Maddison, the club had a crowded midfield and Goss was the man left out.

QPR have used the funds from the sale to hire a third youth academy scout as they look to develop the academy further.

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Max Wolters will be hoping the league cup win can be the boost his club has needed to get their league form back on track. The R's have lost their last two league games and currently sit 17th in the table.
A handful of changes to the lineup from the Burnley match but still using a 4-1-4-1 formation. Smithies is back in goal with Furlong, Onuoha, Lynch and Robinson as the back 4. Luongo is the defensive midfielder with Wszolek, Mason, Maddisson and Ngbakato as the 4 attackers and Sylla getting the start up top.
0' Kickoff. The away side are wearing the dark blue and red combo as Cardiff City come out in the greenish yellow tops.
2' - Goal Luongo It's a dream start for QPR as they score right from kickoff with Ryan Mason sending a through ball in front of Luongo making a run from his CDM position. Luongo does the rest as he beats the keeper one on one. 0-1 already.
21' SAVE! Cardiff are slowly working back into the match with a few minutes of possession as they work around the box. Finding an open look from just outside the box but the shot goes straight to the chest of Smithies.
37' Penalty! Penalty awarded to QPR as the Cardiff defender brings Sylla down from behind. Poor defending on the counter by Cardiff and QPR make them pay.
38' GOAL! - Sylla The man who won the penalty is able to finish it with a simple shot into the right corner as the keeper goes left. 0-2 QPR right before the half.
45'+2 Halftime A great 45 minutes for the visitors as they look to win their first league match in three attempts. Cardiff have had half the possession but can't find the finishing touch.
53' GOAL! - Luongo QPR widen their lead with a cracker of a shot from Luongo from way outside the box. The midfield hit his right footed shot solid as the ball came down from a clearance and sliced it into the top corner. 0-3.

77' Injury Bad news for QPR as Sylla goes down with an injury and is having to be subbed off. Che Adams is coming on in replace.
84' Injury What was looking like a great night is now turning disastrous for QPR as Che Adams is now having to be subbed off with an injury. The striker is limping off on his own.
88' GOAL! - Luongo It's a hat-trick for Luongo as he finishes the night with the easiest goal he will ever have. Cardiff play it back to the keeper who miss-kicks his pass right to the midfielder for a wide open tap in. 0-4.
90'+2 Full Time An easy win for QPR on the score sheet but possibly two key injuries have dampened the mood for the traveling fans as QPR take the win, 0-4.
Max Wolter Post-Match: "Fantastic effort for everyone tonight. Luongo with a hat-trick is special and the defense were great. Obviously we are concerned with Sylla and Adams, our two strikers and two key members of the squad. We are hoping to receive news tomorrow and will go from there."

Re: Max Wolters | FIFA Coaching Career

Injury News
The last few games have been great results on the pitch for QPR but terrible for injury concerns with a total of four players being sidelined. QPR were lucky with Che Adams injury as he will only be out a week at most but the other three are more long-term with two being at an already thin CB position.
