Crap. That makes me not like my vote so much.
Exactly. And I don't think that Sonic Youth has really done anything wrong so I didn't want to lynch him either. Hence my throwaway of a vote. I hope those aren't looked at negatively; we had quite a few yesterday as well.

I've got to switch based on Qwik saying he believes that he was with both Heinz and CR the whole time. I'd hope at least one of them gets checked soon.
UNVOTE JEHEINZ72
VOTE ST.CRONIN
cronin is my second choice based on suspicion about the whole drug thing.

Me not being specific on what I received is totally different than you not being willing to even say where you had gone on your first excursion. I was forthcoming and gave specifics on where I'd gone, who I saw, and said that I'd been given an object...So you've got a necklace of Itzamna been given to you? Your 'object' has a name/looks like? It can convey protection? No? Oh, it's just an object. I see. It's a bit of a convenient 'find'. It's funny how going to the beach or something like snorkelling equals immediate non suspicious activity.
Sonic Youth
04-09-2008, 01:54 PM
Always worth mentioning. And let's see what Sonic can say to defend himself, at least he won't be lynched while he's asleep.Actually, I am. Again. By the same people. For no real reason either.

Oh, that's hilarious. I vote for The Heinz, to try to make the vote interesting for folks who haven't voted yet, then you go and vote for some schlub who doesn't have any votes on him anyway! Man, that Passamujambo guy must be really suspicious for you to vote for him now! ;)
;) Nah, I just don't think either of the leading candidates has done much worth lynching so I was looking for someone with no votes so I wouldn't be piling on anyone. Wouldn't want to start a run of people flooding to a new person with 5 minutes left!

"C'mon now....I don't get this logic man...we've got to decide on something tangible...hate for us to be dead in the water getting picked up above or sharked on below...I still think Mr. Path is the most suspicious, then Cronin for all the hub-bub about the illegal substances...and man has that guy with the basketball been so quiet....I mean really quiet - like a shark."

I agree, it's not much of a reason. Problem is, I don't have much of a reason for voting for anyone else either. Sorry that the cards fell on you this way.. unless you're furry. :D

It wasn't to be suspicious, it was to get data. I found your choice of locale (the one where no one else knows who else went) to be odd. Much like shopping?

And I don't even know myself, specifically what I was hoping to accomplish - generally I was hoping that putting that hint out there might cause a wolf to make an incorrect assumption, and make a mistake.
still catching up but why admit to doing it then?

Much like shopping?
Those people at least have people who saw them or saw other people.
All of the ruins folks, including myself today as I went there today, saw no one and can be confirmed by no one.
For all we know, the underground/wolves all could've just said they went there, since no one would have to corroborate it.

I'm off to watch the football again. It's stupid early here and I'm really going to be paying for it by the end of today. Much like those who vote for me should if it turns up I've then gain enough votes.
It could also be wolves trying to see what it takes to get someone off the cruise too.

Still no reason really is it. It's not like I'm the only suspicious one here, just the one people know the least. Which is why I"m getting the bullet from everyone. Who else has gone shopping and saw anyone apart from Taz? How is that backing up anyone else either. No real reason to make this decision either.

You see ahead the beautiful Grand Cayman Island as the ship slowly comes into dock. In what seems like ages, finally the captain is ready to open up the gates. Before he does, it appears that he once again has an announcement for all of the passengers:
"Enjoy the sights in GeorgeTown, but before you go, i once again would like to thank all of the loyal passengers for coming forth with various suspicious activiites and concerns. Once again however, there wasn't a substantial enough momentum behind any particular passenger that warranted me kicking them off of the ship.
Please continue to come to me with anything that you find fishy, and I will promise to look into it! Now enjoy the shore!"
Voting stage for turn 2 has ended. We are now in the event response phase which will end at 10pm EST tonight. I have not yet sent out PMs, but will be doing so shortly.

We might literally need a majority vote, i.e. 12 out of the 22 passengers.
We had about 32% for this one, so I imagine it has to be somewhere between 35-50%.

BK, where did you get 40% from?
PurdueBrad
04-09-2008, 02:18 PM
This isn't a bad thing looking at the win conditions though, buys us yet another day and gets us further in. I know a few of us think that the wolves can slow down or stop the boat but it still leaves more of us to deal with.
So what are we guessing now, a true majority? And does this give the wolves a voting advantage as they could account for a decent portion of that?

BK, where did you get 40% from?
There is mentions of tiebreakers in the rules. My initial thought was a majority, but that seemed less likely once that was pointed out. I came up with 40% because it is a round number, and a threshold we haven't reached yet, but one which would also still allow for ties.

9/22 = 40.9%
10/22 = 45.4%

For the villagers if I understand correctly, right?
Right. That is, if the wolves are aware of the voting procedure which may or may not be the case. If they are, then a throwaway vote to prevent us from reaching a total % on the leader could be a potent way to prevent lynches.....if the leading vote getter is bad. If they're good, it's not as big a thing.

It's possible. The no kills either way yet could point to this so you would have to assume that, in order for the game to really get going, by the end of tonight there would have to be some wolves.

However, the fact that neither of you got (or at least are acknowledging) the option makes me think that the order of submitting action may have something to do with the available options.
Would it be fair to compare timestamps for when we submitted orders? For example, we might learn that the first person submitting a request for a location gets bonus options. I'm not sure if it will be a hard-and-fast rule, but I would like to continue compiling information about how Alan is structuring his world. Hoops, the reason I feel like timestamp isn't the answer is: day 1, Swaggs, Lathum, and myself all had the same options (as far as I can tell). I feel like the construction of this game is a little bit like a choose-your-own-adventure book, where the choice we made on day 1 puts us on a certain path, which is then clarified by what happens on day 2, etc.

Winning Conditions -
The passengers win if they either have elminiated all members of the Underground at the start of any gameturn starting gameturn 4 or later. The passengers also win if the cruise ship returns to Miami, Florida at the end of the cruise successfully. Be warned, that there might be those who slow down this return trip if given the opportunity however.
The underrground wins if they manage to gain a 1:1 ratio with the remaining passengers. Any third party teams or individual players with independant victory conditions are not considered at all in the 1:1 ratio.
Turn 4 is coming up to date
at the current rate the underground won't reach one to one
unless there are more undergrounders to contemplate
then the passengers are all but done

If there is confusion about someone's actions, I think it is fair game to ask the question.
For example, here are my actions:
Day 0 - went shopping, selected Pottery. No findings
Day 1 - didn't submit action on account of being a dumbass
Day 2 - went to Turtle, have action to take this evening
If there is further discussion around any of these points, please ask. I'm going to reserve the right to do the same to each and every one of you as we move forward in the game. Hopefully the conversations are civil between all parties.

Pass, what I believe he is saying is that he thought his first choice was the flight and he was forced to take his number two but realized that that wasn't the case when the PM about it being too busy but people still going came out. It then means either the flight was his first choice and the shipwreck #2 (he reversed them in his memory) or he lied.

You return to the ship as normal from your day adventures, and prepare for the ship to set sail for yet a new destination. Suddenly a bunch of commotion is heard on the deck as some local police show up and speak with the Captain for a bit. After a short while later, Sonic Youth is escorted off of the ship and the crew lock back up.
Everyone is left there standing in confusion, when it is suddenly noticed that both Barkeep49 and PurdueBrad are also missing from the ship! The captain then announces due to local legal issues, the ship is being prevented from leaving port that night. He apologizes for any inconvienance and offers free drinks in the passenger lounge for all.
You also should all review the local pamphlet as tommorrow you will have another day in GeorgeTown to adventure:
Grand Cayman is one of a group of three magnificent tropical islands Christopher Columbus called "Las Tortugas" (the turtles) for the sea creatures he found in the ocean water. The designation did not endure, however, for on later maps the islands were labeled the Caimanau, the Carib Indian word for "crocodile." The name "Caimanas" refers inaccurately to the iguanas native to the islands, which were perhaps at one point mistaken for crocodiles. Among other attractions, visitors to the island will enjoy learning about the turtles, visiting the town of Hell, exploring Seven-Mile Beach and enjoying the undersea world.
- Snorkle with stingrays at Stingray City Sandbar
- Stop at the Conch Shell House, constructed entirely of the trumpet shells of the mollusk
- Visit the Tutle Farm, an interactive sea-turtle nursery where green and hawksbill turtles are bred and raised.
- Paddle along Grand Cayman's world-renowned Seven-Mile Beach on a kayaking adventure
- Experience a bird's-eye perspective of Grand Cayman on an exciting flightseeing tour.
- Explore a historic shipwreck while snorkeling the beautiful Cayman waters.
- Go shopping in George Town and see why Grand Cayman is humorously referred to as "Brand Cayman" by those savvy shoppers who know the island's reputation for fabulous prices on designer merchandise.
Turn 4 has begun, this is a voting turn in which you must vote someone off of the ship. Obviously anyone who currently is not on the ship or whom has been removed from the game can not be chosen for a vote. You also will want to PM me choices for your adventure tommorrow
Deadline is 3:00pm EST Thursday

My first choice was to go look at the underwater wreck.
how come wheneveryou say you don't believe me, you never quote anything I say to back up any of your suspicions? I find that odd.

Sonic, He wasnt trying to be mean. In the down under they use different words. At least in New Zealand when someone says they are pissed it means they are drunk.Ah right. It can mean that here too :o
I've been taking a lot of heat it has to be said. I'll go back and re-read what he said.

PurdueBrad and Barkeep never garnered that many votes.
BUT, both were kayaking with Jackal and Qwikshot.

who stayed on the boat today?
So far, I have it as you (snorkeling at the shipwreck was full), Swaggs (hungover from two straight Fiesta Boat Party excursions), and I don't have locations written down for Chief Rum, ntndeacon, or Sonic Youth (I'm still trying to sort out if he got his first or second choice - doesn't really matter now though).

Quik and Jackal have some 'splaning to do
What happened to Barkeep and PurdueBrad
I hope they (barkeep & PurdueBrad) return to boat too
Surely there must be a clue to be had

For the time being, the assumption should be that they are and in time the answers to how they died/got removed from the game will be answered or they will return.

I was hungover and missed my excursion, as I slept into the afternoon.

My first instinct would be that they are just off the boat like Path12 was.
I'm hoping Jackal and Qwikshot will be able to tell us more.

Did you notice I posted this pretty much straight after. It just happened that you got your post in in the middle of them which was unfortunate for me. Ah well. We've had a lively discussion though about it :D

Picked = chose. Do you know how fruit is taken off trees? then the meaning of the word is obvious.
Pissed? Bloody hell. I'm the one who should be pissed off.
I don't think I'm denying you that right.

This is wacky. I have no clue what is going on. I'm glad that Sonic Youth answered what he did while he went shopping. I'm sorry for beginning the focus on him...while it was warranted, I don't think we got the right guy.
Anyhow, I'm waiting for post #3 to be updated.
Choices for the excursion are sent.

This is probably obvious to others, but I just realized that Sonic Youth was not voted off, but was "night killed" or "day killed" or "crew killed" or something during our Day 3 phase.
At the end of voting for turn two (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?p=1702323#post1702323), the Captain declined to throw anyone off.

Weird. So my guess is that since Sonic Youth was escorted off the ship, he won't be welcome back, and is out of the game. But BK and PB seem to be in situations similar to path was -- they didn't make it on the ship, but could end up back another day.
mccollins

8/22 = 36.3%
9/22 = 40.9%
10/22 = 45.4%
11/22 = 50%
12/22 = 54.5%
I imagine we have to fall in there somewhere, unless there's a mechanism working that we haven't suggested.
Feel free to re-think based on 19 current passengers.

Any benefits to or good reasons why we should not disclose our plans for tomorrow?
Should we try to buddy up with three to an excursion or should we continue to wing it and go out on our own w/o consulting one another?

nfg22, it's not the drunken term. I'm still trying to figure out why he's asking me when it was right there in front of him, already explained out.
I'm still trying to make sense of that, and trying not to be pissed at you for your flip remark when I asked about it. Is there some Aussie definition of 'picked' that means 'deleted' or something?Actually Pass, read my last response to Lathum. That might help you with that some.
