Re: 2016 Rio Olympics

Man, this game is horrible. Brazil and Iraq are playing some of the worst football I've seen in years. Really, it's amateurish level, at best.

I've seen better games in weekends parties, with people playing with a can of beer in hands while playing.

Oh, one curious thing you guys may not know. The crowds are sometimes yelling "Zika", right?

Well, as disgusting as it is, Zika is also a slang that means two things: 1- it means "bad luck", and it's commonly said that someone "is with zika/zica", or is "zicado/zikado".

2- is a slang used by a group of rap/baile funk fans to refer to someone who is badass, more often like "moleque zika", roughly translated as "badass kid".

This is why people here found the name funny when the Zika virus came to Brazil, because it's a word associated with bad luck

Edit: And they're not screaming "zika" to americans only (as some news outlets are saying); everytime the Iraqi goalkeeper puts the ball into play, the crowd screams zika. It's exactly like the Mexican crowd screams something offensive in the same situation (i think they scream "puto")

Re: 2016 Rio Olympics

Oh gosh, there goes another medal for Phelps

Edit: Brazil 0 x 0 Iraq, FT. Brazilian crowd jeered the national team, and applauded the Iraqi team, chanting "Iraq! Iraq!".

The 7-1 is real

Re: 2016 Rio Olympics

Completely missed this one regarding tennis from earlier today. One of craziest days in Tennis history perhaps? Djokovic lost in 1st round to 145th ranked player and on womens side, Serena/Venus lost in 1st round as well! It's their first ever loss in Olympic doubles! Really thought they were gonna win it all this year, one final time for them to team up and probably "ride off into the sunset" in regards to Olympic/doubles competition at least.

On two different occasions in the past 10 years, Del Potro was in the top 5 and picked up a wrist injury. He is now getting back his form from the most recent one after missing about a year. Beat Wawrinka at Wimbledon. This was not that big of an upset.

Brazil vs Iraq was just shocking. The women's footie has been more entertaining than the men.
