These particular rosters can't go online because the CPU teams have been edited.

However, if there's one team you want to play as online, you can always just make that team on a separate file yourself and it will work fine.

I heard that there was a freezing issue with 2k5, due to all the created players? I was thinking about getting it but that turned me off. What roster are you using and do you have freezing issues? Thanks, in advance, for any/all insights...APF is cool but i'd prefer 2k5 as well!

well it could be a corrupt roster file that your using or your disc could be scratched up i am not currently using a roster set right now but you can go to nfl2k5rosters.com and im pretty sure all of them work and if youve tried them then you could look at your disc just to see if it is really scratched up
if it is you can just get new one for like a $1 or just clean it properly

It matters which rosters you use some aren't for more than one season or franchise mode. Just do a bit of research to find the ones your looking for.

As beautiful as this game may be, I still can't get over how stripped down it was. One season and done.

If it had a franchise mode for offline gamers like me with the moddable stuff it currently has, I'd think about picking it up. But even when it released it didn't intrigue me. Pick your players, play one season, then that's it.

This is really my beef with this game. As good as it is, and as more in depth as it is, having only 1 season is a real killer for me.

If you could only go through franchise with the generated players I wouldn't mind one bit. Just give me an influx of rookies and the draft.

One can also become burned out on the game due to studying it and altering it to achieve a certain result rather than simply playing it for the fun and entertaintment as it was originally intended to provide.

I must say that, after testing and working on APF2k8/NFL2k13 for the last few weeks, I'm still blown away. I can hardly get through games because I'm constantly watching replays in amazement at some of the sh*t that happens on the field between players.

Football is a contact sport...plain and simple. Therefore, if a developer sets out to make a pro football simulation, their focus should be on how the players interact with each other .....blocking, pass coverage, tackling, breaking tackles, pursuit, etc. It's abundantly clear tha 2k Sports/Visual Concepts understood this and made it the preimise on which APF/NFL2k were developed. They achieved a simulated suddeness and explosivess on the field no other game has been able to duplicate...even with a real-time physics engine. Its for that reason that this game is widely held as the standard in football-sim gameplay to this day....even against Madden 12 or 13.

"Read and React Defense?" Madden/NCAA are just NOW introducing head tracking by defenders of the ball in flight......seriously?They do this when the OL/DL interaction is STILL lightyears behind what 2k achieved almost 10 years ago along with defenders head-tracking of a thrown football.

I don't say this to bash EA (there's enough of that happening already) but moreso to give due props to 2k for what the effort and innovation to they put towards the development of APF/NFL2k.

I honestly should be burned out on APF by now but I'm not. Why? Because I STILL marvel at the way this game moves...plays...sounds....and ..dare i say....feels. Yes, I'm getting corny now. Who cares? I love this f**kin game!
You and me both. I still remeber my inital introduction to this game. I was a strictly madden player up until 2007. I liked the nfl 2k series, but I still played madden primarily. I just got a 360 and a copy of Madden 08. The passing was off and the movement just wasn't fluid at all, but my ignorace made the game better than it really was in retrospect. I don't know how, but my copy of madden got cracked and wouldn't read. I immediatley headed to gamestop since the disc was only about two or three weeks old I figured the gamestop guys would let me swap it out since I went in there so much. Of course that didn't happen for me, but the employee reccommended APF 2k8. He showed me the box cover, I saw it before, but I had a no NFL no play thing. Ignorance on my part. I played it and tried to do the same things that I would do in madden throw on the run across my body with accuracy with no avail. I didn't know what was wrong with the game, so I took it out disgusted. I stuck with it, learned the ins and outs of the game, realized that I had to play with real true to life fundamentals count steps in dropbacks etc. and cannot play video game football any other way since. EA is just now gaining ground on them, but the player awareness just is not up to snuff. Its as though the players only recognize the ball or their one inital blocking assignment. Not the other 21 people on the field. That most likely will be fixed next year, they gotta have something to hype up.
