Re: NEW Backbreaker Gameplay

I'm worried about the running game. I sure hope this is an older build in that the worked, re-worked, and perhaps overhauled OL/DL interaction, because HB's aren't gaining squat on their carries.

New Passing Game Trailer to be released later today. This is part of the training camp series we have seen so far that started with customization and was followed by the running game.

So much looks great but the run blocking is a big question mark. Watch the run that went for -5 yards, the whole OL seemed confused who to block so the DL just sprints into the backfield untouched! If you're constantly in 2nd & 15 things will get old fast, but hopefully this is just an older build.

Looking forward to it, I'm concerned about the use of the right stick to select the receivers.....

a couple of months back some at the official BB forums were concerned about the running as well, based off older videos awhile back....those videos showed similar problems to this video, and that is why we believe it is old...as well as the camera is different than some of the recent video clips we have seen....like others have said, it seems these are the videos where all the players were at their highest rating....so with that anything crazy can happen.

imo, running the ball should not be easy....but I doubt it will be like this where the Oline is making mistakes like what we saw in that video.

From what I understood, you will cycle through receivers with the shoulder buttons (R1-L1 on PS3).

Re: New Backbreaker Gameplay Video

I'd imagine that with this being a first year effort the concepts of blocking schemes or assignments are going to be very basic. I really wouldn't expect this game to nail key gameplay facets on their first attempt given their inexperience developing football games. People need to have realistic expectations going in. The key imo is that their foundation is solid and grounded, because it's going to take user feedback and more development time to fully develop the title. For example, I like that the logic for multi-player interaction/recognition - like on the fly double teams - seems to already be there. Only saying this for perspective, but if I'm not mistaken that's something that wasn't even in Madden last year - and that was it's 5th next gen iteration.

It should be expected that people are going to discover Backbreaker has a ton of gameplay and AI issues - their team is small, it seems practically no one has played the game other than [the devs themselves], and they don't have the experience of a Tiburon or even 2K when they were able to make football games. For me the key with this game is what it can potentially be, because it's unrealistic imo to expect a ton from them on their first attempt at making a football game.
