"Game Recap"

Scott Podsednik grounded to 2nd base in the 3rd inning, but beat out the double play attempt scoring James Loney and keeping the inning alive. Podsednik stole 2nd and Alcides Escobar came through once again with a single to right field for the RBI. Jim Thome lead off the 6th inning with a triple. A triple! It was a long shot to left field in which Eric Byrnes (Pictured Above) miss played and crashed hard into the wall allowing the big man to get all the way to 3rd base. J. J. Hardy singled him in and James Loney doubled into the left center field gap to score Hardy for the 4-0 lead. James McDonald nearly gave the game away in the 8th inning giving up 2 hits and 2 walks including a 2 RBI single to Howie Kendrick. Neftali Perez came in and surrendered a single allowing another McDonald runner to score, but got the remaining 2 outs to preserve the lead. Trevor Hoffman came in the 9th to earn his 3rd save of the season.

"Player of the Game"

Stephen Strasburg has been unhitable so far in his first 3 major
league starts and earns "Player of the Game" honors for his
performance against the Yankees. He pitched 7 innings of 3 hit
ball before turning it over to the bull pen which nearly gave away
the game.

Re: The Future? | Oakland A's Fantasy Franchise

"Game Recap"

Scott Rolen got the game rolling with an RBI double scoring Prince Fielder and Eric Byrnes hit an RBI single to score Rolen in the 4th inning. Prince Fielder saved a run in the 4th inning off the great defensive play (Pictured Above) robbing Bill Hall of a double. In the 5th inning Prince Fielder hit an RBI double scoring Chris Snyder. Howie Kendrick also scored on an error by Everth Cabrera. The Athletics got 2 runs back in the 6th inning off of a Austin Jackson double and a Bill Hall 2 out single. The Athletics took the lead in the 7th and it was looking as though Even Meek would pick up his 4th win on the season, but it was not meant to be as he gave up 2 hits and a walk in the 8th inning. Neftali Feliz tried to get out of the bases loaded situation, but gave up a 2 run single to Julio Lugo to give up the lead and the game.

"Player of the Game"

Prince Fielder was the man of this day going 3 for 4 with 2 runs
and an RBI double. His defensive play also lead to the Yankees victory.

Re: The Future? | Oakland A's Fantasy Franchise

"Game Recap"

The Cleveland Indians showed up to play today and gave their starter, Jake Peavy the boost he needed early on to come away with the victory by a score of 6 to 3. Brandon Morrow hid an injury during pre game warm ups and only lasted 1 inning before he couldn't continue any longer (Pictured Above). That was all the Indians needed as they put up 3 runs in the 1st inning and another in the 4th off of James McDonald which only lasted a little over 1 inning himself before he was pulled in favor of Jeff Suppan which finished off the game. Jay Bruce hit his 7th homerun of the season which was his 200th career hit and 50th career homerun for the 22 year old.

"Player of the Game"

Jake Peavy was lights out and was a surprise to see him pulled
in the 9th inning after 8 innings of great baseball. He had 9 strike
outs and gave up 2 runs on just 4 hits.

"Injury Update"

There has been talk since the season started about why Aroldis Chapman didn't make the opening day rotation. The Athletics don't even have him on the 40 man roster opting to keep Mark Rogers, Dana Eveland and Jeff Karstiens on the roster in case of injury. Eveland and Karstiens because of their experience in the major leagues. The buzz has been to send down James McDonald due to his poor performance and move Brandon Morrow to the pen and bring up the 21 year old lefty, Chapman, but nothing has come from the general managers office about such a rumor. Well, that may happen sooner rather than later as Morrow went down with a strained oblique injury in today's game. He is not expected to miss a start, but if he does indeed have to sit out Jeff Suppan is expected to make the start for him.

"Game Recap"

Tommy Hanson was hit up hard in this game and was pulled after just 3 innings (Pictured Above). Hanson gave up 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. The Cleveland hitters had all the answers to begin the game, but allowed the Athletics to claw and scratch their way back into the game tying it up in the 9th inning to go into extra innings. Ty Wigginton gave the Indians the lead in the top of the 10th and Jim Thome came about 5 feet short of tying the game back up flying out to center field.

"Player of the Game"

Fernando Tatis was an almost impossible out today going
4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.
