Re: Worst to First - A GM Travels
5/1/10
First, the good news. Tris Speaker started out hot and batted .391 during the first month with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. Now, the bad news. We went 3-7 in our last 10 games in April and finished 4-12 for the month, dead last. Collectively, our pitching staff pitched like a bunch of garbage during the first month. We are last in the AL in ERA (3.81), runs allowed (78), hits allowed (157), opponents AVG (.283), and walks issued (60). Hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a freight train heading towards us on the same track. Code:

Re: Worst to First - A GM Travels
6/1/10
We bounced back with a 16-11 (59.3%) May and we are now in 6th place, 6.5 games behind the leading Detroit Tigers. Boss Schmidt (.322-2-20), Tris Speaker (.317-3-19) and Heinie Wagner (.303-0-11) led the hitting attack with Fred Beck and Frank LaPorte each driving in 13 runs to help the cause. In a relief role, Elmer Smith was 5-2 for the month to pace the mound staff while Fred Anderson went 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA to lead the starters. Rube Kroh is pitching well (1.32 WHIP, 2.44 ERA (2nd lowest on staff)) but has not won a game this season in 10 starts (0-6). Code:
