Will Andre Iguodala & the Nuggets finally reach their lofty potential in '12-13?

DENVER, CO -- Despite enjoying success in 2011-12, the Denver Nuggets hope to greatly improve on their campaign of yesteryear. After finishing sixth in the Western Conference with a 38-28 record, the Nuggets fizzled against the Los Angeles Lakers in a seven game struggle of a series. With spirits saddened and dreams crushed, Denver retreated for the offseason.

The atmosphere surrounding the Mile High City couldn't remain somber for long, however, as the offseason brought about huge changes in the NBA. After a rough year in Orlando, Dwight Howard was involved in a four-team trade that saw the perennial All Star center relocate to the Lakers' locker room. The 76ers received talented big man Andrew Bynum and a veteran in Jason Richardson, while the Magic received a plethora of players including Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington. The final team, Denver, received star swingman Andre Iguodala, and the outlook for the Nuggets in 2012-13 was bolstered immediately.

Head coach George Karl stated that the Nuggets "are counting on Andre to come in and do a little bit of everything. The guy has been a great player in Philadelphia for awhile, and we feel like he fits here in Denver. I'm excited to see what this team can do in 2012."

With the glass half full, the Nuggets look to return to the playoffs in 2012-13.

Ty Lawson had a rough night in Denver's loss to the 76ers

Denver Nuggets: 0-1

In addition to the loss, Denver SF Danilo Gallinari suffered a twisted ankle against Philadelphia. The sharpshooting forward is officially listed as day-to-day, and isn't expected to miss any time.

The real blow to the Nuggets was dealt in the form of Kenneth Faried tearing his labrum. The power forward struggled from the floor against Philly, and will have 2-4 weeks to recover from this latest setback. Wilson Chandler will see more minutes as a result.
