Couple of nice back to back Top-10 wins there. Doing what it takes to secure a #1 come tourney time.

Just you and Clemson in the top 25 from the ACC...does this mean the ACC is down this year or are the others just outside top 25 consideration?

Maryland, Virginia and UNC were all ranked at one point. Virginia sits at 10-2 right now. So some are gonna be right outside of it. I think it's the first time UNC hasn't been ranked.

From what I can gather the ACC goes through periods like last year where they had a ton of teams ranked. And a few highly ranked. Then there were non ranked teams that had winning records.

But then most can't sustain it. And it goes back to a few ranked teams all year. It usually goes full circle after so many seasons. Duke has been the most consistent. Maryland has only had maybe one or two bad seasons since I arrived.

Re: JJ4's CH2K8 Coaching Career

#7 (10-1) @ #9 (9-1)

Duke was facing another Top Ten team on the road and the first half delivered. Each team started out shooting 62% (Duke) and 66% (Louisville) from the field. That +4% gave Louisville a 15-11 lead early on. That, however, would quickly evaporate as Duke's zone defenses would show effective. With 5:00 to go Duke would gain it's first lead of the game at 28-27. They would ride that momentum into halftime extending their lead to 38-31.

Duke shot 55% from the field, shooting just 2/7 from deep, and only 4/7 from the free throw line. They would own the paint outscoring the Cardinals 18-6 down low. Louisville would cool of dramatically shooting just 41% to end the half. They would go 4/12 from beyond the arc and 7/10 from the charity stripe. They were led by guard Atila Ruffin, who would score 16 points on 6/11 FG (3/6 3PT). Duke was led by Hakeem Bird who had 12 points and four rebounds on 4/6 FG (2/4 3PT).

Duke would get an early double digit lead to open the second half. The Cardinals would continuously claw back. Then Duke would always answer with a mini-run of their own. It was 66-53, Duke on top, with 6:30 remaining. It would take nearly six minutes but Louisville would chip away and make it 80-76 with 38.3 seconds to go. That would be as close as it would get as it would take Duke a total of 12 seconds to go up 10 and effectively end the game.

Re: JJ4's CH2K8 Coaching Career

#4 (12-1) @ #22 (15-2)

On paper, despite being on the road, Duke should've walked away with this one. But games aren't played on paper and it's always difficult to win on the road in conference play.

Both teams would start the game shooting very poorly from inside the arc. They would play sloppy all half - even having multiple consecutive possessions end in turnovers in back and forth fashion. Both teams, however, would go a combined 11/19 from three. Duke would gain a slight halftime advantage, 32-28.

Virginia was led by guard Ije Major who scored 12 points (4/8 FG, 4/6 3pt) and recorded three steals. Hakeem Byrd single handily carried duke with 17 points (7/13 FG, 3/4 3pt) and seven rebounds. The Blue Devils shot 38% from the floor, 5/9 from three, and had nine turnovers. The Cavaliers shot 42%, 6/10 from three, and had 12 turnovers.

Both teams would preform much better in the second half. Duke would jump out to a quick 44-32 lead, biggest of the game. Virginia would then go on a 13-0 run to take the lead at 45-44. From that moment on it would go back and forth. No team going up by more than four points. With 53.9 seconds to go Duke had a 70-69 lead. Virginia would answer with a quick three. With 30.8 seconds left it would be 74-74, Duke ball. Hakeem Byrd would be given the green light. He would take a three point shot from the top of the key ...and drain it with 0.6 seconds left to secure the win for Duke.

Hakeem Byrd finished with a career high 45 points (18/30 FG, 7/12 3PT) and nine rebounds. Star senior center Dwon Sharp would add 18 points (7/11 FG) and eight rebounds. Virginia was led by Ije Mayer with 27 points (9/21 FG, 6/13 3PT) three rebounds, four assists, four steals, six turnovers. Odie Banjo with 20 points (7/14 FG, 4/6 3pt), three rebounds and three assists. Noel Chaming 11 points (5/7 FG) and five rebounds. Clement Figueroa 12 points (5/8 FG, 2/2 3PT).

Duke finished the game shooting 44% from the field, 9/21 from deep, and had 12 turnovers. (Only three in the second half) They shot a poor 47% (8/17) from the free throw line. They did out hustle Virginia grabbing 11 offensive rebounds to the Cavaliers three. They also had 23 fast break points to the Cavaliers three.

Virginia would shoot 51% from the floor, and astonishing 12/22 from three but only 6/8 from the charity stripe. They'd end the game with an atrocious 19 turnovers. (Only seven in the second half)

#4 Duke: 77
#22 Virginia: 74

Re: JJ4's CH2K8 Coaching Career

Just thought you should know. I had Duke going to the Elite 8, but may million dollars went out the window yesterday when I missed OSU, St Joes, Oklahoma and ASU all lost.

So with 5 minutes to play, I was screaming for the Bears
