By the Numbers: 64. The 76ers shot an impressive, and uncharacteristic, 64% from the field in the 2nd half.

Parting Shots: The 76ers are now 2-0 against the HEAT and 7-22 against all other teams. Every dog has it's day, but the Philly crowd was rocking with a "beat the Heat" chant at Wells Fargo as the clock wound down. The doormat Sixers closed out an abysmal 2014 on a high note.

Asked if Philly was Miami's main obstacle in getting back to the Finals, LeBron James removed his headband and said "next question."

James carried the load for the HEAT, but it wasn't enough. LeBron scored 26 points on 26 shots along with 5 boards and 8 assists. Norris Cole was a spark off the bench with 14 points in 14 minutes, but the rest of the team underperformed.

The 76ers got an effort from all hands on deck and shot 50% for the game. MCW did his usual thing and paced the club with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists while living at the charity stripe (10-11). MCW was also assigned to lock down Dwyane Wade and held Wade to 11 points.

Thaddeus Young pushed through a subpar 1st half to give the Sixers a jolt down the stretch. Young finished with 18 points and 11 boards while being the primary LeBron-stopper.

Philly also received contributions from the bench with Reggie Jackson putting up all 7's--7 points, 7 boards, and 7 assists. Alphabet 2 and Nando De Colo, just off of a high ankle sprain, also pitched in with 12 points a piece.

Philly pounded Miami on the boards (52-40) and benefited from a quick whistle in taking 27 FTs to Miami's 16.

With PGs Reggie Jackson and Phil Pressey acquired in trades and Nando De Colo back from a sprained ankle, the writing was on the wall for former Michigan guard Darius Morris. The 76ers waived Morris today. Morris played in 28 games for Philly, while averaging 12.3 MPG, 3.5 PPG on 40.2/44.1/81.8% shooting as well as 2.4 APG, 1.0 RPG, and 0.8 SPG.

In a corresponding roster move, the 76ers inked 6'10" 260-pound Jeremy Tyler to a pro-rated, 1 year $1.93MM contract. The 23-year-old Tyler has spent time with Golden State, Atlanta, and the Knicks in parts of 3 seasons.

Philadelphia's current roster stands at 14 players.

Parting Shots: The Chicago Bulls were able to edge the Sixers on a blocked shot by Joakim Noah at the buzzer.

The main contributors for the Bulls included December Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Dario Saric (18 points 8 rebounds), Nikola Mirotic (14 points off the bench), and Noah (19 points and 9 boards).

The Bulls were without the services of star PG Derrick Rose who is out for 3-4 weeks with a sprained knee (of course it's his knee). Taj Gibson was also held out with a broken nose.

The 76ers were competitive for the entire game, but came up a bit short on the road. Andrew Wiggins played a game-high 38 minutes and scored 16 points to go with 6 rebounds.

In the thick of a 10-game losing streak, the Melo-less Knicks are 7-25 and the worst team in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks decided to part ways with Coach Mike Woodson and have replaced him with Rick Carlisle, who was fired after the Dallas Mavericks underperformed badly last season.

In a move that sets the Memphis Grizzlies (11-22) franchise back 5 years, and probably poises them for relocation to Seattle, Memphis shipped Marc Gasol to the Pacers (15-17) for Evan Turner and Chris Copeland.

There is absolutely no good reason for Memphis to do this trade. James Johnson had been performing well as the starting SF: 30.9 MPG, 15.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.3 BPG and at a much cheaper price tag than Turner. The Grizzlies will likely use a rotation of Ed Davis, Kosta Koufos, and rookie Noah Vonleh to man the pivot without Gasol around anymore.

Meanwhile, Larry Legend has made a trade for the ages. Gasol is a better player than Roy Hibbert, and this move allows the Pacers to let Hibbert walk in the offseason, trade his expiring deal before the deadline, or convert him into what he really should be--a defensive menace off the bench.

In addition, the Pacers free up a logjam on the wing by moving Turner and Copeland out. This will free up more minutes for rookie Jabari Parker backing up Paul George and Lance Stephenson.

Gasol is under contract for 3 years at $35MM total, which is a team-friendly price. Turner has 2 years and $20MM left on his deal.

Parting Shots: Philadelphia is now 1-1 in 2015, and has a 2-game home win streak.

As per usual, MCW and Andrew Wiggins were among the most important Sixer contributors. Carter-Williams had a vintage MCW stat line with 27 points, 8 assists, 6 boards, 3 steals, 1 block, and 7 turnovers. Wiggins added 23 points.

Newcomer Reggie Jackson continues to add a burst off the bench and played 28 minutes while posting 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, with a pair of thefts.

For Dallas, superstar Dirk Nowitzki took an alarmingly-low 6 shots and only scored 8 points. Center Brandan Wright double-doubled with 12 and 10 and Monta Ellis along with rookie Dante Exum were the most aggressive. Ellis scored 23 points on 20 shots in 39 minutes. Exum continued along in his rookie campaign with 14 points, 4 dimes, and 3 boards off the bench. 2014 Lottery pick Dante Exum is averaging 18.6 MPG, 10.2 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 3.1 APG in 31 games for Dallas.

The Mavs are 1-9 in their last 10 games and have an NBA-low 8 wins.

I can't speak about PS3, but in PS4 you can't make any changes to the league structure after you start up the franchise mode (called MyGM). Or if you can, I haven't figured out how.

What you can do is start a franchise with custom team configurations and one of the custom team options you can use is a Sonics team from the 90s. This means, you could insert that Sonics team over, say, the Kings or Grizz or Thunder or whatever team you want to remove.

You could also use custom rosters to make it more realistic (so that Shawn Kemp and Detlef Schrempf etc aren't running around the NBA again). You could put all the Kings players on the vintage Sonics team, release the old Sonics to FA (maybe edit them to suck so that no other teams would pick them up), and start up the franchise with the Cousins and McLemore Sonics etc..You could make it more like expansion, instead of relocation, by plugging in free agents over the old Sonics players.
