Re: NeverEnough Presents: Buzz City | A Charlotte Hornets MyGM Experience (NBA2K15)

Charlotte made the trip to New York tonight after successfully defeating the Memphis Grizzlies last night in an 89-82 battle. They would look to continue to build upon their early success this season and ride the winning streak as long as they could, but everyone on the team knew it would be an uphill battle as the Knicks are always a tough opponent, especially in The Garden. The key to the game going in was to keep our lengthy defender, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, out there as long as possible and try and apply enough defensive pressure on him and hopefully that'd limit New York's success. Unfortunately for the Hornets, taking Melo out of the equation led to a less likely suitor stepping up and putting the net on fire.

The game seemed to play the same tune the entire way through as Charlotte would go on a lengthy run extending the lead by 10+ points each time and then the three point shooting of the Knicks would wake up and hit a few baskets and the game would be down to a couple points. Then enter Iman Shumpert. I'm not exactly sure who told someone to wake up the beast that was inside Shumpert, but he came out big. We may have overlooked him a bit, thinking he'd be less reluctant to attack the basket as he's been recovering from a dislocated shoulder, but instead he was shooting it almost every time he got the ball in his hands. This would have been ok had his shot been off, but instead he was making Avery Bradley and the rest of the guards look silly, while the big men were seemingly helpless.

There was some bright spots to our game though as we ran the court extremely well, which led to some really awesome dunks, especially Gerald Henderson who completely posterized Jason Smith. The real stars of the game though were Al Jefferson and Marvin Williams. Jefferson wasn't really much of a surprise as he's already had a couple big games and against Samuel Dalembert we weren't expecting much different, but Williams on the other hand was tasked with going up against Amar'e Stoudemire. Williams didn't back down though and instead went right at the dominating big man and as a result he was able to make it to the free throw line a lot and sink 10 points from there. Both guys combined for a total of 43 points and 21 rebounds. Needless to say they were the reason we were not only able to stay in it offensively, but also their defensive presence helped keep the Knicks at bay.

The game came right down to the wire as the game entered the 4th quarter with Charlotte up 2 points. It would go back and forth with Shumpert and Anthony being the driving force for New York, while the Hornets got contributions from almost everybody that was out on the court. It really came down to free throws which some great shooting was enough to keep the game just out of reach for the Knicks and secure a third straight victory for Charlotte!

How do you generate those box score images? They are really nice.

Thanks, the games I've played have all been close ones that came down to the end so that's always more fun than a bunch of blowouts :-)
