Canadian Pride | The Toronto Raptors

It's been a long time since I've made a basketball dynasty, but I've been active in the hockey and baseball dynasty forums. With the recent success of the Toronto Raptors, I've been somewhat inspired to startup another Raptors association! And with that, I bring you Canadian Pride | The Toronto Raptors!

Dwayne Casey and the Toronto Raptors revealed their opening night roster to the public earlier this morning.

Following a season that saw their first playoff birth in a long time, the Raptors will welcome in the Boston Celtics to the Air Canada Centre on October 31st with a roster that features the likes of Kyle Lowry, Demar Derozan and Jonas Valanciunas.

The most surprising player on the roster come its reveal was 2014 first round pick Bruno Caboclo. The 6'9" swing man from Brazil was expected to begin the season in the NBA D-League to give him a period to adjust to the North American style of the game, but Dwayne Casey and company elected to keep the Brazilian on the team along with fellow Brazilian Lucas Noguiera.

The Raptors prepare for their opening night contest against the Celtics, as the Air Canada Centre is expected to be sold out, with attendance rates skyrocketing after last season's success.

Coming Out Strong: Raptors Start Season Off Strong Against Celtics
Derozan Drops 28 In Season Opener

After falling to the Brooklyn Nets in Game 7 of last years playoffs, the Toronto Raptors came out strong on opening night, proving that last year's strong campaign was no fluke.

The Boston Celtics rolled into the Air Canada Centre for their first regular season game, but got a handful of something else, falling to a strong Raptors squad 121-93.

Raptors small forward Demar Derozan adopted his new position well, scoring 28 points against Jeff Green, who had trouble guarding him all night.

Louis Williams was spectacular off the bench for Dwyane Casey and his crew, shooting 6-9 from the field, good enough for 16 points in just 13 minutes of action, his first with the Toronto squad.

It was a good shooting night for the whole Raptors team, who shot a combined 55% (49-89). "We moved the ball well and found the open man," said point guard Kyle Lowry, who had 15 points on 33 minutes from the floor.

Celtics center Brandon Bass had a team high 23 points, who shot 46% the whole night.

Re: Canadian Pride | The Toronto Raptors

Raptors Down Hawks on the Road
Derozan Continues Hot Start to Season

Demar Derozan is scorching hot to start the 2014-2015 season. After dropping 28 points against the Boston Celtics in their season opener, the Raptors shooting guard continued having the hot hand, scoring another 36 points against the Atlanta Hawks.

Due to their offensive outburst, the Raptors managed to top the Hawks 106-94 in the Hawks' home opener at Phillips Arena in Atlanta.

Derozan wasn't the only one providing points for the offence, as point guard Kyle Lowry also picked up 23 points for himself along with 12 assists, good enough for his first double-double of the season.

Paul Millsap and Al Horford each scored 23 and 22 respectively to sum up the offence for the Hawks, who also got 14 points from point guard Jeff Teague.

The outstanding difference between the two teams was the bench scoring. Toronto managed to 17 points from its bench players, while Atlanta only managed to get six points from its bench.

Former Hawks guard Louis Williams got to play against his former team for the first time in his career, and scored five points in ten minutes of action, including a three pointer in the final minute of the game that put the game out of reach for the Hawks.

Re: Canadian Pride | The Toronto Raptors

Raptors Cruise To Third Straight Victory
Ross Injured in Win

Toronto's 108-85 victory to the Milwaukee Bucks came with a loss, as the team learned that small forward Terrance Ross strained his MCL and will be out of action for the next 1-2 weeks, leaving a gaping gap in the Toronto lineup.

Demar Derozan and Kyle Lowry each picked up 27 points for the Raptors, who streaked to their third straight win to start the season. 11 assists for Lowry was enough to give him back to back double-doubles, his second on the season.

Brandon Knight scored 19 points for the Bucks, who fell to 0-3 to start the new season.

The Raptors will return home from their brief two game road trip to take on the Miami Heat. It will be their first look at the Heat, who will be without King James this season after he signed with the Cavaliers in the offseason.

Re: Canadian Pride | The Toronto Raptors

Raptors' Derozan Injured in Practice
Derozan Out with Ankle Injury

A day after learning that they will be without small forward Terrence Ross for the next 1-2 weeks with a strained MCL, the Raptors were dealt another blow to their starting lineup.

Demar Derozan left Wednesday's practice with what has been diagnosed as a high ankle sprain. Derozan left the Raptors' practice with help from trainers and teammates after landing awkwardly on a block attempt.

Derozan is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks of action, leaving a gaping hole in an already weakened Toronto lineup.

A combination of James Johnson, Louis Williams and Landry Fields is expected to cover for the Raptors until either one of Ross or Derozan is healthy enough to play full time minutes for the squad.
