Love the celebration from DeRozan after the game-winner. Tough loss to Golden State, but like you [and Pop] said you have to go a full four quarters to hang with that team. A close loss is a good measuring stick though come later in the season. Off to a solid start so far, keep it up.

Hey man! Thanks, I'm trying to use the highlights to add some emotion to the recaps. Do you think I should spoiler tag the gifs to make it look cleaner?

The Warrior game was like a real life game vs them. When they were coming back, it felt like there was absolutely nothing I could do.

I have been thinking about making a trade for another defensive combo forward, and trying to build a killer defense that can switch all over the floor and really lock people up. But this game made me think a little.

I was using my size with Aldridge and Gasol to score on them, so maybe it would be better to get a younger big man, go back to the Spurs traditional Twin Towers lineup, and try to compete with 2 versatile big men and the young guards.

I honestly am not sure which style would work better, so I need to do some thinking.

I could see using spoiler tags if your readers don't have the fastest internet. Maybe centering the logos at the top and the highlights would make it look cleaner too. If it looks nice to you, don't worry about it. I personally am able to follow along just fine.

Maybe consider that lineup specifically for the Warriors. Though Gasol is getting up there in age, maybe Aldridge and Poeltl might work? With those two, Gay, DeRozan, and Murray you could have a better chance dealing with switches on screens. It's still a tough task either way, like you wouldn't want Murray to end up being switched onto Durant for example.

Locking down the Dubs is no small feat.

Game 17: Grizzlies at Spurs

@

Spurs blown out at home by Memphis, 117-101

SAN ANTONIO– In their last game before a four-game road trip, the Spurs were blown out on their home floor by the Grizzlies, 117-101. San Antonio turned the ball over 18 times, compared to just 5 turnovers for Memphis. “They have great veterans on that team, if you turn the ball over, they're going to make you pay,” guard DeMar DeRozan said after the game. The Spurs started out hot, opening the game on a 23-6 run and it looked like they might cruise to victory. But by the end of the first quarter, the Grizzlies had closed to within four, 27-23. Memphis seized control in the 3rd quarter, and when Marshon Brooks' 3-pointer made the score 108-91 with 5:30 left, head coach Gregg Popovich waved the white flag and pulled the starters.

Up Next:The Spurs begin a 4 game road trip in Indianapolis, against the 8-10 Pacers.

Either way I will probably trade Gasol, either for a big or a combo forward. He is a good trade chip with what amounts to a $16mm expiring contract. His deal is only guaranteed for $6mm next year, so I will probably edit it to $6mm and cut him for the team I trade him to.

Game 18: Spurs at Pacers

@

Spurs fall to Pacers in overtime for second straight loss

INDIANAPOLIS– In a see-saw game at BankersLife Fieldhouse, the Pacers beat the Spurs in overtime, 120-112. Victor Oladipo, who shot just 10-27 from the field in the teams' previous meeting, erupted for 38 points to lead Indianapolis, who improved to 9-10 on the season.

The Pacers built a 15 point lead in the 3rd quarter, only to see San Antonio open the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run and claim an 84-81 lead. From there, it was a back and forth game with Darren Collison hitting a 3 off a Domantas Sabonis pass for a 108-106 lead with 9 seconds left. The Spurs again turned to DeMar DeRozan, who has provided late game heroics a number of times in the early season, and he hit a 17-foot jumper to send the game to overtime.

In the OT, the Spurs ran out of gas, starting 0-5 from the field and giving up an 8-0 run to start the extra frame that essentially ended the contest.

Up Next:The Spurs travel to Milwaukee on a back-to-back to take on the 10-8 Bucks.

Game 19: Spurs at Bucks

@

Spurs escape Milwaukee with a win

MILWAUKEE– After going to overtime the night before in Indy, the Spurs outlasted the Bucks 117-116. San Antonio lead by as many as 8 points in the final minutes, but saw their lead nearly evaporate as a series of 3 pointers, the final one coming at the buzzer, narrowed the margin. After a rough shooting first half, DeMar DeRozan scored 19 of his 23 points in the 2nd half to lead the Spurs. Giannis Antetokounmpo was unstoppable, scoring 43 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and adding 7 assists. “We didn't have anyone who could handle him,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the game. “I'm just pleased Rudy Gay hung in there and made things as tough as he could.”

Up Next: San Antonio makes their only trip of the season to Chicago to take on the 8-12 Bulls.
