Thanks. Yeah it's more interesting than just putting their last game score in there, and I like keeping tabs on what's going on around the league.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Heat Rally to Defeat Suns

Jimmy Butler bounces off a defender for a three-point play Monday Night.

Phoenix - The Miami Heat made it 2-0 so far on this road trip when they were able to use a strong fourth quarter to rally, and defeat the Phoenix Suns 112-104 on Monday night. Miami used a balanced attack with six players in double figures, led by Jimmy Butler who had 23 points on the night. Miami went into the half with a 60-51 lead, but quickly let that slip away in a disaster of a third quarter. Devin Booker, and Chris Paul got it going giving Phoenix as much as an 11 point lead before Miami cut it to eight to close out the frame. Miami was then able to clamp down on defense in the fourth, and while Chris Paul, and Devin Booker each had big nights, the rest of the Suns did very little on the offensive side of the court, and Miami was able to use their depth to pull away late for the victory. It was a good win for Miami guaranteeing a successful road trip with a game left tonight. It won't be an easy one either as a much anticipated rematch of the NBA Finals is on tap when Miami visits the Staples Center to take on the LA Lakers.

Matchup Preview @ Los Angeles Lakers

It's a rematch of the NBA Finals when the Miami Heat take on the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night. Despite winning the championship, the Lakers reloaded with even more talent bringing in Dennis Schroder, Wesley Matthews, and Montrezl Harrell in the offseason. It will be a big test for Miami coming off a hard fought win last night in Phoenix, on a back to back.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Bam's Career Night Rallies Miami to Win over Lakers

Bam Adebayo scored a career high 42 points on Tuesday night

Los Angeles - Nights like this are going to lend more credence to the questions of what would've happened in last years finals if both teams were healthy. Bam Adebayo posted a career high 42 points to go along with 19 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Miami, despite not having a lead in regulation, was able to rally in overtime and defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 129-124. Miami trailed by as much as 23 points early in the second quarter, and it looked like the Lakers were going to coast to the easy win as they had an 18 point lead going into the fourth quarter. Miami turned it on in the final frame however, starting a parade to the free throw line, and playing solid defense against the Lakers supporting cast. LeBron James did get his however leading all scorers with 44 points, but no one else was really able to help James down the stretch. Duncan Robinson hit two clutch threes in the final minute to tie the game for the first time since tip-off, and the Heat took their first lead in the overtime period at 119-118. The two teams then traded buckets for a couple minutes before Miami went ahead for good at 123-122 with 1:31 left. After the tough three game trip where Miami went an impressive 3-0, they have earned the three days off over the Christmas holiday that they are going to receive. Miami won't be back in action until Saturday the 26th when they take on the Detroit Pistons at home.

Game of the Night

Chicago - The Chicago Bulls finally put one in the left side of the standings column with a 122-112 win on Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets. Someone eventually had to lose to the Bulls, and the Rockets got the dubious honor, thanks to a balanced effort from Chicago's starters and bench.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

Matchup Preview vs. Detroit Pistons

Miami - After three days off the Miami Heat are back in action for a quick one game homestand to take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. Detroit is another team that gave their roster a huge makeover in the offseason. Many in the media questioned Detroit's moves, and the results so far have been mixed as they're off to a 5-7 start. Miami is coming off an impressive three game west coast trip where they went 3-0, but they may be without Jimmy Butler in this one, who suffered a bruised tailbone in Tuesday night's win at the Lakers. Tip off from American Airlines Arena is set for 7:00 PM local time.

Game of the Night

The Toronto Raptors got the win in the battle against their former Finals MVP 144-122 on Christmas Day. Pascal Siakam led all scorers with 32 points, while it was the Clippers bench, led by Lou Williams that did most of the scoring for LA in this one. Kawhi Leonard had a rough time against his former mates playing just 22 minutes before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Re: Time to Finish the Job - Miami Heat Franchise

No Butler, No Problem as Heat Win Fourth Straight

Tyler Herro flies in for a dunk in Saturday's win

Miami - Missing Jimmy Butler, who was resting a sore tailbone from Tuesday night's win over the Lakers. The Miami Heat had few problems with the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night as they secured a 109-101 win. With Butler out Tyler Herro took on a lot of playmaking responsibilities as he turned in a Butler like stat line of 26-4-5. Duncan Robinson helped out with the scoring in a big way as well knocking down a season high eight three pointers in the win. Miami pushed the lead to as much as twenty, and was never really threatened throughout the night. Miami is hoping to get Butler back on Monday, while they may have another injury to deal with as Goran Dragic left the game late with a quad injury. He'll be evaluated tomorrow.

ESPN.Com Power Rankings
RK (LW)TeamRecordAnalysis
1 (1) New Orleans Pelicans10-1It's time to take the Pelicans seriously as a title contender this season.
2 (2) Los Angeles Lakers8-4A little rough patch for the Lakers losing two of three, but we still consider them in the ranks of the elite.
3 (5) Portland Trailblazers11-2The Blazers are surging behind Damian Lillard's MVP play so far this seaon.
4 (6) Boston Celtics7-3The East is a cluster at the moment with injuries. Boston seems to be playing the best basketball right now.
5 (11) Utah Jazz9-3Another western conference team that's red hot right now is the Utah Jazz. Jordan Clarkson is the front runner for 6th man.
6 (10) Indiana Pacers7-5The Pacers are rolling since their 0-3 start. Sabonis may be the best big man in the conference.
7 (15) Denver Nuggets7-4Jokic is turning into a triple double machine again, and it's helped Denver climb the West standings.
8 (3) Milwaukee Bucks8-3Like a few teams in the East injuries have caught up to them, but they're still holding the #1 seed as of now.
9 (8) Atlanta Hawks7-4A couple losses in a row have knocked the Hawks back down to earth, but they're still going to be a player in the East this season.
10 (12) Orlando Magic7-4The Magic creep into the top 10 this week after some impressive wins over the Celtics and Sixers.
11 (9) Toronto Raptors7-5The Raptors will go as far as Pascal Siakam can take them. Some nights he looks like an MVP candidate. Others not so much.
12 (16) Miami Heat7-4Miami has won four in a row, and looks to have climed out of a rut after a slow start to the season.
13 (19) Memphis Grizzlies7-5Ja and company are starting to get it rolling, and live up to the potential many had for them this season.
14 (4) Phoenix Suns7-4Phoenix got a reality check this week dropping a couple games to last years finals participants. LA, and Miami.
15 (6) Houston Rockets6-6Three straight losses, and the Harden rumors are starting to heat up again in Houston.
16 (17) San Antonio Spurs5-7DeMar DeRozan is playing well right now, but there's not a lot of help around him.
17 (25) Cleveland Cavaliers4-7Big week from Collin Sexton, and the Cavs are starting to look like a decent team out east.
18 (23) Golden State Warriors5-7Huge win over the Lakers has the Warriors starting to believe they can be in the hunt out west.
19 (13) Washington Wizards6-4Still in the thick of it out east, but Westbrook is still having trouble finding his role next to Beal.
20 (18) Detroit Pistons5-8It's starting to look ugly in Detroit. They were never in that game in Miami the other night with Butler on the bench.
21 (28) Philadelphia 76ers3-9Signs of life for the Sixers with a couple wins this week, but they have a lot of ground to make up.
22 (26) Minnesota Timberwolves5-7The T-Wolves are right there out west if KAT can keep this level of play going.
23 (21) Los Angeles Clippers5-7The Clippers have almost climbed back into a playoff spot here after a dismal start.
24 (14) Charlotte Hornets3-9After a promising start the Hornets have lost 5 of 6, and it looks like another lottery year in Charlotte.
25 (20) Brooklyn Nets4-7It's going to be tough to truly judge the Nets until they're fully healthy, but that better happen soon if they want to contend out East. Kyrie should be back this week.
26 (24) Sacramento Kings3-8Another young team that has plummeted after a nice start. The Kings have lost 5 of 6.
27 (22) New York Knicks4-7The Knicks certainly aren't the worst team in the league, but they're not going to be consistent enough to climb much higher than this.
28 (29) Dallas Mavericks3-8Luka is back, but we're still a couple weeks away from KP's return, and the Mavs are losing ground fast.
29 (27) Oklahoma City Thunder2-10Eight straight losses now after a 2-2 start, the Thunder are in the Cade Cunningham sweepstakes.
30 (30) Chicago Bulls1-11The Bulls finally got a win this week, but this team is a disaster, and there will be changes before the deadline.

Matchup Preview @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland - The Miami Heat look to continue their win streak when they hit the road to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Miami has won four straight, but is coming into this game a little banged up with Goran Dragic, and Jimmy Butler both questionable to play Monday night. The Cavs have some injury bugs of their own with Collin Sexton questionable to go in this one as well with a finger injury. Tip off is set for 7:00 PM from Rocket Mortgage Arena.
