Dorenbos fills a need in Detroit

Detroit, MI-- The Lions signed Jon Dorenbos today, a long-snapper from the Eagles. Detroit says they would like to use Dorenbos as a full-time Center on their team, seeing as they don't have any center's on their roster, they are hoping this works out and they don't have to rely on a rookie to begin all of their play's. After battling a tremendous amount of personal adversity early in life, Dorenbos has worked hard and stayed focused enough to carve out a four-year career as a NFL long snapper. He is a solid technician with good overall mechanics. He has very good accuracy, velocity and spin on the ball. He has a good, strong wrist and follow through to target. He is an above average athlete who plays with pretty good balance and control when covering kicks. He is pretty effective on field goals and PATs. He signed a 4 year deal worth $13.5 million with a $2 million signing bonus.

James to Detroit

Detroit, MI-- Former Cowboys and LSU Tiger standout ILB Bradie James agreed to terms on 4 year deal worth $17 million and a $4 million signing bonus to start at LB for new coach Bud Foster, trying to raise a defense as dominant as the one he put together in Denver last year. James has been the Cowboys' most productive inside linebacker over the past four years. He is a quick reactor who attacks the line of scrimmage with precise angles. He uses his hands well to ward off blockers. He is a solid open-field tackler with pop and power on contact. James doesn't excel in pure man schemes but understands route progressions and how to play combination coverages. James has 471 tackles, 19 deflections, 13.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, and 1 interception(which was returned for a touchdown) in his career. Next up- The NFL Draft, in which the Lions have the 4th overall pick.

Re: Coaching Career of Bud Foster

New York, NY-- It was an eventful draft for the Lions, who traded away their 4th overall pick to the Buccaneers for the 28th overall pick, Bucs 2010 First rounder, and a 3rd round pick this year. Here's a review of the Lions Draft:

Round 1:
28th- WR Marques Dantley- Looks to compete with Brandon Williams as the 3rd receiver behind Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams.
Round 2:
42nd- RB Kenton Kasom- Looks to start for the Lions, shifty back who is considered by many the best runner in this draft class.
Round 3:
68th- LT Kobe Houston- A solid player in college who will probably sit this year but may compete with Jeff Backus to protect David Garrard's blind side.
69th- LE Artis Drexler- An undersized defensive end who was the fastest defensive lineman in college football last year and will see time in pass-rushing situations.
Round 5:
160th- C Armond Dawson- Unpolished player who will likely sit this year and learn from Jon Dorenbos this year.
Round 6:
164th- WR Sugar Hunter- Wont play this year, but will be a possible contributor in the future.
188th- CB Alex Koly- Possible Nickel back for this season.
Round 7:
196th- LT Nelson Cannon- Coach Foster was not as sold on him as the rest of the coaching staff, but they believe he can contribute in 3-5 years.

All in all, a solid class for the Lions, who look to sign these players and get them to camp ASAP.

What draft path is this? I remember Kode Houston from my Zazzali path, but I've no clue about the other players. Looks like a good draft, good choise to trade that 4th overall pick away.

With Kobe Houston and Kenton Kassom, on his team I would have to say the Zazzali path...
