Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
I think it's time to take Waddell off the KO Return team. Way too easy to win games.

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Is Quarterback The Most Important Position? Picture a kitchen without a chef. You have the flashy cutlery, the heavy pots and pans, and all the right ingredients. With nobody to use these, they are about as useful as a barbecue without charcoal. A team without a solid quarterback isn't much of a team in my opinion. Who is going to lead the team down the field? Sure the running back can do a large part but he isn't the one who has to call out audibles and blocking assignments. And let's face it the era of running backs pounding the ball all day are long gone. In today's NFL you need a passer. The quarterback is the heart and soul of a team. He makes the big decisions during the plays he can change something if the defense is set up to well or even poorly. The wide receivers can't catch the ball if the quarterback isn't good enough to get them the ball. A team needs a good quarterback to manage the game and that's all there is to it. NFL Starting QBs AFC North Steelers- Ben Roethlisberger, backed up by Brodie Croyle and Dennis Dixon, rookie Stacey Alexander Browns- Derek Anderson, backed up by Brady Quinn and rookie Fred Riek, Ken Dorsey Bengals-Carson Palmer, backed up by Jordan Palmer, and rookie Tyrone Greer, Darrien Jackson Ravens- Joe Flacco, being pushed by 1st round pick Chris Essex, Troy Smith at QB3, rookie Brent Steele...oddly enough Troy Smith is their highest rated QB at OVR 74...which means the Ravens QBs stink. AFC South Colts- Peyton Manning, Jim Sorgi, and Quinn Gray Jaguars- David Garrard, Cleo Lemon, Bruce Gradkowski Titans-Vince Young, Brett Ratliff, and rookie Dennis Goode at QB3 Texans- Matt Schaub, A J Feeley, and rookie Tristan Gallon AFC East Patriots- Tom Brady, Kevin O'Connell, Bernard Williams Bills- Trent Edwards, Chris Redman, Aaron Brooks Dolphins- Chad Pennington, John Beck, Chad Henne, Patrick Ramsey Jets- Damon Huard (on IR), Leron Williams, 1st round pick Morgan Barnes, Tim Rattay...not a one of them rated above 59...now that's a train wreck AFC West Raiders-2009 1st pick, Mike Zazzali, JaMarcus Russell (1st pick 2007 draft), Andrew Walter Chiefs-Sage Rosenfels, Tyler Thigpen, Rashad Warren, Ingle Martin Chargers- Phillip Rivers, Billy Volek, David Carr, Tim Hasselbeck Broncos- Jay Cutler, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Boller NFC North Vikings- Tavaris Jackson, Josh McCown, rookie Rashanti Wade, rookie Destin Spivey Packers- Joey Harrington, Gus Frerotte, Brian Brohm, rookie Blake Christensen Lions- Kurt Warner, Kellen Clemens, Dan Orlovsky, Drew Stanton Bears-Kyle Orton, Caleb Hanie, Paul Lacey (the Bears 2nd round pick in the 2009 draft), Jared Zabransky NFC South Buccaneers-Steve Battle, Brian Griese, Jon Heatly, Luke McCown, Josh Johnson...really 5 QBs? Saints-Drew Brees, Matt Cassel, Clint Carswell Panthers- Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, Charlie Frye, rookie Derek Guillory Falcons- Matt Ryan, Russell Horton (The Falcons only carry 2 QBs) NFC East Cowboys- Tony Romo, rookie Henry Skaggs, Wade O'Neill, Brooks Bollinger Giants-Eli Manning, Andre Woodson, Tyler Palko, DJ Shockley Eagles-Donovan Mcnabb, Al Bruce, Kevin Kolb Redskins-Jason Campbell, Craig Nall, Chris Simms, Brian St. Pierre NFC West Rams- Marc Bulger, Alex Brink, rookie Lee Abrams, rookie Charlie Simpkins Seahawks- Matt Hasselbeck, Seneca Wallace, Benji Newsome Cardinals-Matt Leinart, Charlie Batch, rookie Richard Brown, Marques Tuiasosopo 49ers-J.T. O'Sullivan, Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith Last edited by kdmajoslin; 07-09-2010 at 02:44 PM. |

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Week 4- Bye Week Week 5 New Orlean Saints (1-2) @ Atlanta Falcons (2-0) Injury problems and poor execution by QB Matt Ryan plagued the Falcons in this one. The Falcons lost 8 players to injury in this one, C Lawrence McClain-sprained toe, RT Frank Payton-eye poke, FB Dan Kreider-sprained nick, WR Marvin Harrison-head injury, DT Trey Lewis-sprained thumb, DE Artis Drexler-bruised knee, DE John Abraham-tricep sprain, and CB Zach Bowman-torn PCL. Of the injuries only two were serious, DE John Abraham will miss at least 1 week, and CB Zach Bowman will miss the rest of the season. QB Drew Brees starts the game off with a score, when he finds WR Santana Moss on a 3yd pass. NO 7 ATL 0 The Falcons respond with a long drive and a 3yd TD run by HB Michael Turner. NO 7 ATL 7 The Falcons score again when rookie phenom CB Demario Waddell intercepts Drew Brees and goes 49yds for the TD. You'll be seeing this one on the highlight reel folks, Waddell out jumps Santana Moss, and on his run back, stiff arms Drew Brees to the ground, and slips a shoestring tackle by Reggie Bush. NO 7 ATL 14 The Falcons Defense stops Brees, and gets the ball back for the offense. QB Matt Ryan moves the Falcons into scoring range, but after a couple of costly sacks, Coach Munny sends in K Torry Brownlee for the 38yd FG NO 7 ATL 17 at the half The Saints turn a QB Matt Ryan interception into points, when HB Reggie Bush goes in from 3yds out. NO 14 ATL 17 The Falcons turn to their ground game, and it pays off with a 4yd TD run by HB Michael Turner. NO 14 ATL 24 The Saints are struggling offensively, but then they get a spark from their defense. ROLB Jamar Williams intercepts QB Matt Ryan on the play action pass, and goes 102yds for the TD! NO 21 ATL 24 3 minutes left in the game. The Saints choose not to try the onside confident they will get it back, and they are right. New Orlean's defense stops HB Michael Turner cold, and the Falcons face a 4th and 11 on their own 28yd line. The fans are screaming go for it, but Coach Munny makes the right/unpopular choice to punt away. The Saints have the ball with 1:32 left in the game, and 60 yards to the endzone for the win, 30yds to get into FG range for the tie to send the game to overtime. It is time for the defense to step up big. QB Drew Brees takes advantage of a bad defensive call and hooks up with WR Skyler Green for a 23yd completion. The Saints are a first down away from FG range, and only 37yds away from a TD, with 1:20 to go. Coach Munny calling the defensive plays, calls for the safety blitz, DL spread. SS Jerome Bartell comes in unblocked, in large part thanks to DE Antonio Perez being spread out, Bartell takes Brees down. 2nd and 16. Brees is in the hurry up so Coach Munny can't call another play, but he can have the DL pinch this time. The RT goes wide to block SS Bartell, leaving DE Antonio Perez free, sack. 3rd and 19. Saints have to take an injury timeout. Coach Munny uses the opportunity to sub out both of his fatigued DTs, and calls Tampa 2, OLB Fire Man. The Saints OL can't block everyone, backup LB Stephen Nicholas gets through, Brees scrambles but can't get away, sack. 4th and 26. The Saints have to go for it. The OL loses this one quick and three guys get to Brees, DE Antonio Perez is credited with the sack. Falcons take over on downs. Coach Munny has HB Michael Turner run the clock out. NO 21 ATL 24 Falcons remain undefeated! NFL Scoreboard - New Orlean Saints (1-2) at Atlanta Falcons (3-0)

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Atlanta Falcons News GM J. Strausser worked some deals this week: FB D. Kreider was signed to a 2yr deal worth $1M, no bonus, incentives for startiing all 16 games and rushing for 1000yds...no one is sure why Kreider wanted the last incentive, he's a blocker...and that role is unlikely to change. TE M. Hedgecock signed a 2yr deal worth $800K, with a $500K bonus, no incentives Both RT Todd Weiner and LG Fred Miller wanted new deals, but Strausser chose to put them off, as both aren't considered long term solutions. FA DE Kabeer Gbaja Biamila was signed to a 1yr $1M deal, to add depth on a Defensive Line that constantly seems to be losing players. OLB Keith Brooking got a 3yr deal worth $13.1M, with a $5.5M signing bonus, Brooking will recieve incentives for reaching 10 sacks and 100 tackles. Coach Munny felt signing Brooking was important for the team, and for the franchise as Atlanta fans want Brooking to retire a Falcon. With CB Zach Bowman going on IR, rookie CB Cris McComas is going to see more work. HB Jerious Norwood's agent has contacted the Falcons and he's looking for a 5yr deal worth $17M for his client. That's pretty steep, but Norwood is a good fit. Time will tell what Coach Munny will do. |

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Week 6 Atlanta Falcons (4-0) @ Carolina Panthers (2-2) HB Jonathon Stewart started this one off with a blast, rushing 57yds for a TD on the opening drive. ATL 0 CAR 7 The Falcons move the ball efficiently on the ground and HB Jerious Norwood takes it in from 3yds out. ATL 7 CAR 7 The Atlanta defense forces the punt, and the offense methodically marches down the field to add another TD when HB Jerious Norwood goes in for his second TD. ATL 14 CAR 7 QB Jake Delhomme can't find a rhythm and the Panthers are forced to punt again. Falcons QB Matt Ryan fumbles the ball, stalling their drive and forcing a K Torry Brownlee 50yd FG. It's good! ATL 17 CAR 7 The Panthers get back into this one with another HB Jonathon Stewart TD, this time from 9yds out. ATL 17 CAR 14 HB Jerious Norwood gets his third TD of the game. This time with an 82yd kickoff return. ATL 24 CAR 14 Falcon's QB Matt Ryan makes a bad choice, and Panther's CB Sheldon Brown makes him pay, taking the interceptiong back 62yds for the TD. ATL 24 CAR 21 to end the half The Falcons add a 22yd TD run by HB Michael Turner to give themselves some breathing room. ATL 31 CAR 21 The Panthers are driving when Coach Munny calls Goal Line, Blitz A. MLB's Karlos Dansby and Paul Posluszny cut through the O Line. MLB Dansby spins QB Jake Delhomme to the ground, spinning the ball out in the process. MLB Paul Posluszny scoops it up and runs 53yds for the TD. Carolina QB Jake Delhomme isn't getting up, he has to be helped off the field. ATL 38 CAR 21 Coach Munny goes into run the clock mode, feeding the ball to HB Michael Turner and HB Jerious Norwood. The Falcons move the ball into the redzone before the Carolina defense stiffens. Atlanta settles for a 32yd FG by K Torry Brownlee. ATL 41 CAR 21 Backup QB Matt Moore looks good, but in the end can't make the key pass to convert on 4th down. Turnover on downs. The Falcons run, run, and run. K Torry Brownlee ends the game with a 34yd FG. ATL 44 CAR 21 Falcons Win! QB Jake Delhomme's injury isn't serious and he's expected to start next week. NFL Scoreboard - Atlanta Falcons (4-0) at Carolina Panthers (2-2)

Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Atlanta Falcons News DT Trey Lewis wore out his welcome in Atlanta, in large part due to his inability to stay healthy. DT T. Lewis was injured and had to leave the Panthers game. Trainer Aaron Lee later confirmed that DT Lewis had torn triceps, and would miss at least 4 months. Coach Munny put him on IR and when the Raiders called asking about Lewis, it was a done deal. The Falcons recieved a 5th and 7th round pick in 2011 for Lewis. To help provide depth on the D Line the Falcons signed DT Dewayne Robertson. In other news, CB Terrence McGee, HB Jerious Norwood, and LE Mark Anderson all received extensions. CB T. McGee 5yr deal worth $14.3M, $5.5M bonus, incentives for 10 INTs and 50 tackles HB J. Norwood 5yr deal worth $16M, $7.5M bonues, no incentives LE M. Anderson 3yr deal worth $5M, $2.5M signing bonus, no incentives Both WR Roddy White and WR Marvin Harrison were looking for new deals as well. WR Marvin Harrison was looking for a 2yr deal in the $13M neighborhood. WR Roddy White was expecting something only slightly more modest, a 6yr deal in the neighborhood of $28M. No deals were reached, and probably won't be. Coach Munny feels both Harrison and White are on the decline, and with a WR heavy draft on the horizon, it doesn't make sense to sink $41M into two guys. Re: Coaching Career of William Munny
Week 7 Miami Dolphins (2-4) @ Atlanta Falcons (5-0) HC Tony Sparano has told the media that HB Michael Turner will not run on the Dolphins this week. HC Sparano was true to his word, as HB M. Turner had his worst game of the season. Unfortunately, keeping 8 men in the box to stop HB Turner, created opportunities for QB Matt Ryan. Opportunities QB Ryan was only too happy to take advantage of. The Dolphins went 3-13 last season, and showed no signs of improving that record in this one. Miami scored first settling for a 25yd FG by K D. Carpenter. MIA 3 ATL 0 The Falcons responded by finding WR Marvin Harrison in the endzone for a 2yd TD pass. MIA 3 ATL 7 The Falcons defense was playing full speed, and QB Chad Pennington and his bevy of rookie WR's were overmatched. HB Brown bust a few big runs, but in the end the Dolpins had to give the ball back. When they did the Falcons added a HB Michael Turner TD. MIA 3 ATL 14 The Falcons force a 3 in out and then drive down the field in 5 plays, scoring on a 16yd pass to TE Ovie Mughelli. MIA 3 ATL 21 The Dolphins end the half with a 35yd FG by K D. Carpenter. MIA 6 ATL 21 at the half The Falcons add another passing TD in the 3rd quarter. This time QB Matt Ryan finds 1st year pro WR Harry Douglas. MIA 6 ATL 28 The Dolphins can't get anything going and a QB Chad Pennington interception by FS Sanrick Raines kills their best chance to score all day. The Falcons throw down the field and score when QB Matt Ryan finds WR Marvin Harrison alone in the endzone. MIA 6 ATL 35 in the 4th quarter. Coach Munny has sent in the subs. SS Jerome Bartell pads his stats when he intercepts QB Chad Pennington and returns it 68yds for a TD. MIA 6 ATL 42 Final, Falcons Win! NFL Scoreboard - Miami Dolphins (2-4) at Atlanta Falcons (5-0)

Week 8 Minnesota Vikings (4-3) @ Atlanta Falcons (6-0) This one was a defensive struggle, with neither team being able to score in the first half. The Vikings got into FG range twice, but K Ryan Longwell didn't have the leg to make the long kicks. In the second half, both offenses found some success, but in the end the Falcons made fewer mistakes. NFL Scoreboard - Minnesota Vikings (4-3) at Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
