Re: A Bears Dynasty

2009 Preseason

All preseason games were supersimmed as I was worried about injuries in the preseason games.I went 4-0 in preseason, but a number of close games. I did get both playbooks to Learned before the first preseason game. I at least want my players to know the plays when they face the Colts the first game. It will make that loss less painful. If you can believe it, the Browns kicker missed a FG from the 7 in OT-I went into the game in OT.Name was Zastudil, I think.

Preseason game 1-Bears 10, Chiefs 7

Bennett 78 rec yds, Johnson INT

Preseason Game 2- Bears 27, Seahawks 17

Addai 85 rush yds, Bennett 69 rec yds
Gross 5 pancakes

former Bear LG Ruben Brown placed on IR

Preseason Game 3- Bears 36, 49ers 17

Staley 5 pancakes, Campbell 2 sacks

CU-OC-Perf 2, DC-Perf 2, GM-Contract Neg 4

Injury-HB Adrian Peterson-sprained MCL-3-7 weeks

Preseason game 4-Bears 38, Browns 35 (OT)

Quinn 233 pass yds, Addai 73 yd rush
Philips sack

CU-RBC-Perf 2, WRC-Int Dev TE 3, LBC-Phys Dev LB 2

INJ-LOLB Barry Redd-1-3 weeks

Preseason Promise-Win at Least 3 Games

Let's not set the bar too high starting out

Final cuts:

QB Kyle Orton
HB Adrian Peterson
WR Mark Bradley

Season Goals:

Win 3/4 games
Beat Packers-Week 11
Beat Packers-Week 16
Re-sign C Olin Kreutz
Re-sign DT Tommy Harris
Win Defensive Rookie of the Year
Hire a new GM
Hire a new College Coach
Have 80+ Approval, Approval currently at 63

I'm very surprised no goal for re-signing Briggs. Maybe sitting out training camp had a effect on the GM. The GM still marks him as Indispensable though. The 2008 Depth Chart with cap information will be up later.

2008 Season-Game 1-Colts 37, Bears 6

Well, it could have been worse. No, really. It's just really hard to beat the Colts the first 2 years. I've never worked out why the Colts are so good the first 2 years and so bad after that. Not a good start, but we are in the NFC North.

CU-OC-Lrn Dev OL 2, QBC-Perf 2.

NFL note-Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez-10, 000 career rec yds.

Re: A Bears Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 2-Panthers 28, Bears 21

This is not the start to a new Bears dynasty I was hoping for, and I can't say when I'll get my first win. Overall we played well-good pass rush, QBs played well, we ran the ball-but the 5 fumbles killed us. The last one especially, when Johnson fumbled on the 20 looking to tie it up.

One notable move-I traded WR Devin Hester after the game. I got a 2009 2nd and 2010 7th from the Vikings; I'm looking to take another big step in that draft. I'm already 2 games behind in the division, and approval is now at 47.

CU-HC-Playbook Training, DC-Lrn Dev DB 2, OLC-Perf 2, DBC-Perf 2, DLC-Lrn Dev DL 3.

Injury-TE Mark Moffitt, high ankle sprain, 1-4 weeks.

Updated overalls and potentials:

Jordan Gross-93/94
Tommy Harris- 90/91
Nathan Vasher- 90/91
Signed WR Jaymar Johnson to take Hester's roster spot.

NFL note-Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad-10,000 rec yds.

Re: A Bears Dynasty

2008 Season-Game 3- Bears 30, Bucs 3

It's always good to get that first win of the season out of the way. After the Panthers game, I thought it might be a while before our first win, but the Bucs game wasn't as difficult as I expected. My pass rush took care of their offense, and Quinn didn't make too many mistakes. There was a Defining Moment during the game, so approval went all the way up to 77. SS Kenny Phillips won the Defensive Player of the Week Award.

CU-HC-Int Dev QB 2, OC-LRN Dev TE 2, DC-Phys Dev DL 2.

DPOW-SS Kenny Phillips-14 tackles-fumble rec TD.

Surprising to see the Bucs do that bad... They're normally a strong team. I've seen them go to back to back Super Bowls (and lose to the colts both times!). Odd.

The Cover-2 is simply not designed to do well against a Spread offense, although it really was my defense that contained their offense.
