NCAA looking into the recruitment of Cam Newton?

Also, I'm sorry, but Newton is a better runner than Tebow and that's about the extent of it.

MSU released an official statement tonight..


“During the recruitment of a football prospective student-athlete, Mississippi State was approached with an offer to provide an extra benefit. This offer was refused.

“MSU alerted the Southeastern Conference about the offer. MSU did not have any specific incriminating information about any other school, and thus could not provide any.

“As Commissioner Slive mentioned today, the SEC is not an investigative body. MSU has cooperated fully and completely with the NCAA from the time it began asking for our assistance, and looks forward to providing any and all help in this ongoing investigation.”

According to Atlanta news outlets, Cecil Newton has admitted to money talks with MSU. Source that leaked it also stressed that Cam and Cam's mother had no knowledge of this and that it had nothing to do with Auburn.

This falls in line with what many of the more respected insiders on the AU boards told us yesterday that some more stuff was gonna come out that would make Cecil Newton look pretty bad but would have no effect on Cam/Auburn.

This information was already known to the NCAA. Auburn is playing Cam this weekend. That should tell everyone exactly where AU/Cam stand as far as the NCAA goes.

Man this has been a wild freaking ride.

I read on another board today that according to NCAA rules that even if it was his dad that did the soliciting that he will be ineligible.

Are we supposed to take this as the reason why Cecil chose Auburn?

Yes. It is. And yes. Cam is eligible.

This was the bomb that many of our own said was going to drop. It was also said that AU was made aware of all of this back in July, dealt with the NCAA on eligibility issues regarding it, etc.

Cam is going to be the starting QB for Auburn University Saturday. This is with the NCAA knowing this information. That says it all.

Makes Cecil Newton look pretty damn bad though.
