"The University of Michigan is under investigation from the NCAA for in-person scouting violations, per @RossDellenger

Michigan is being alleged to send unnamed individuals to attend opponents games to gather information on the signs they use for play calls"

Wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh jumps at a chance in the NFL.

I'm reading more and more about this. But it sounds like they definitely broke the rule. I never knew you can't scout in person. Since 1994 it was a cost cutting measure. It also made it a little more fair for teams without that kind of budget to be on an equal playing field as big schools.

Most of the details are in the link above

But Connor Stalions is the person if interest here. If he is connected in any way. Jim is going down for sure.

Idk how you read the quote below and came away thinking that they definitely did something wrong.

Quote:
" There aren't a lot of details available, including how much, if any, head coach Jim Harbaugh knew about the sign stealing; how many games someone associated with Michigan attended; how long the alleged sign-stealing system has been used; what staff members, if any, attended future opponents' games; and if electronic devices were used to record the signals.

The in person scouting is illegal and supposedly they have the guy's laptop that has videos on it that show the illegally recorded signs. The illegal scouting is a big enough violation to cause problems and adding the additional things, if proven, will cost them big time.

Sign stealing could be easy now if you trained some model to predict what the play was by inputting the historical play calls. You get video from every game for scouting now so in person scouting isn't needed and is actually less informative than the videos of the games. The videos are even categorized by formation, scenario, players, etc.

You won't find video of the signals though and would have to try and zoom in to see them from the all 22 cameras.

Idunno how many people caught PTI today but Wilbon told Sparty to shut up. I mean, he tells everyone to shut up, but it was a fun punctuation to the episode.
