I don't know about Bama, it's hard to judge cause their loss was to a rival but based off what I've seen I'd say FSU's D is way better then Mizzou.

They haven't faced the rushing of Auburn obviously, but the 1st team defense has not allowed a rushing TD all season

The basis of what Auburn is doing is "big boy" football. They are beating people up front.

And if they get rolling then your defense has to deal with the tempo problem, which FSU hasn't had to deal with on this magnitude.
I'd put our DB's (Noles) head & shoulders above Bama's, especially with Sunseri being hurt for a large chunk of the year.

That being said, Auburn will run on FSU. They're just too good not to. If I was Gus I'd have Marshall carry around a football all day & night between now and game-time since his fumbles seem to be the only thing that can slow down their offense. It will be interesting to see how Pruitt handles Joyner with respect to bringing him off the edge. He's been wreaking havoc all year with blitzes but a lot will depend on the corners being able to matchup with Coates' over-the-top speed. Gotta get them into 3rd and longs since anything under 3rd & 6/7 is equally likely to be a run.

It will be an entertaining game for certain.

I'm not sure the SEC is the conference that should be talking about out of conference games. but whatever. This FSU team is just loaded on both sides. Auburn will have to prove they can pass the ball against this defense.

Don't give me the magic stuff come on.

besides my prediction I am hopeful for a good game though.

You sleeping on Mizzou's defense. They had one of the most disruptive fronts in the country, particularly pass rushing. But that doesn't help you when the team you are facing is not passing They were #2 in the SEC against the run behind Bama. So again, I don't see FSU head and shoulders above them. Better yes. Head and shoulders better, don't think so. Look up until yesterday, Mizzou only allowed one 100 yard rusher all this year. Mizzou's defense ripped Texas A&M a new one. So let's not down play them. They know how to play defense. Yesterday though, Auburn's offense had them:

Part of the reason I was soo frustrated with the game. I knew Mizzou's defense was good. I watched them in person earlier this year. Just couldn't believe they got demoralized like that. It'll be fun to see how the title game plays out.

We've heard that all year. And then we steamroll said opponent for 300 plus on the ground.

Auburn will run on FSU just like they ran on Georgia, Bama, and Mizzou.

The question for me is can the Auburn D get enough stops against the FSU O. Ellis Johnson has a month to prepare. He'll need it for sure.

I'm inclined to agree. The bigger issue IMO is front seven.

Re: BCS Championship: #1 Florida State (13-0) vs. #2 Auburn (12-1) | 1/6 8:30 EST

Man, what a match up this will be. This series was one of my FAVORITES in the late 1980's. FSU won the first two and then Auburn won the last one and they were always good games. Back then obviously it was Pat Dye and Bobby Bowden, Deion Sanders and Stacey Danley.

My take is that FSU is better defensively (how good we don't know…they haven't really played a rushing attack like this). I also give the special teams edge to FSU (I know AA thinks Auburn's is better). Offensively I think it's a push, but FSU is more balanced/traditional in how they get things done. My concern for Auburn is this game is like 30+ days away and I remember how poor they looked against Oregon after the layoff.

If someone made me bet money, I'd pick FSU…but man I'm glad I don't have to bet on this game!

On another note, as a Florida fan this Auburn team gives me so much hope for next year. Auburn was abysmal last year and this turnaround is insane. I think we will see this more often in college football as the line between good and also ran gets thinner and thinner.

Re: BCS Championship: #1 Florida State (13-0) vs. #2 Auburn (12-1) | 1/6 8:30 EST

Since the Charlie Ward days, I've always rooted for FSU, well that is until MassNole ruined it for me. There's always a soft spot for the 'Noles with me however so I am rooting for them.

Despite that, I don't really have a dog in this fight. Do I see Auburn rushing for 300 yards vs. this team? No. I think they will run the ball successfully at times, absolutely. But, if they can not generate something in the pass game, I don't believe they have a chance. This FSU team is too deep and too fast up front to be one dimensional for 60 minutes. Auburn will have to make some (not a ton) but some plays in the pass game to win this. They will not win this game if they are only attempting 12 passes this game.

In the end I give the edge to FSU, for two reasons. They are significantly better on defense, and they are significantly better at the QB position. I am not sure Auburn can overcome those two disadvantages. It will take a 325+ yard rush attack to do it, imo.

I saw special teams being discussed. FSU may have the best FG kicker in the nation statistically, and from a return standpoint they average almost 27 yards per kick return and 10 yards per punt return, so I am not sure there's an advantage either way in this game.

This is the first CG I am looking forward to since 2006, and while I have a rooting interest in FSU, I really don't care who wins, I just want an exciting, well played game. Auburn has given us those pretty much every week for the last month.

My only complaint? The ridiculous wait time between the games. Just highlights the utter absurdity of the NCAA/BCS that much more.
