This is probably the reason, but UF doesn't want to admit it. They will spin whoever they end up hiring as the one they wanted and the best coach available. I'm not sure if the fans will buy it again though after the failures Foley has had.

Whoever the new AD is didn't pick a good time to start. He has to pay for Foley's failures, Bull gators impossible expectations, and top coaches not wanting to go there.

What does UF not want to admit? Everyone knows that Kelly was their first option...if he stiffs them, there is no spinning it as we didn't want him. I don't even think they'll try that.

UF doesn't want to admit that they aren't a top spot for coaches. They have the money, location, etc but coaches still don't want to go there. It's because of the Bull Gators and fans.

After the last failed hire, I had UF fans and some high up boosters telling me it was a great hire, after they struck out and couldn't find anyone to take the job.

If they want a top coach, they need to pay at least $25 million fully guaranteed.

Another rumor is that Kelly can’t sign yet because of his previous contract with the 49ers

“Kelly reportedly won’t accept the Florida job, if he does end up taking it, until after the Florida State game. The reasoning is that Kelly won’t get his $5 million payout from the San Francisco 49ers if he takes the job before the Gators’ season is over. “

Kelly met with UCLA on Tuesday and will decide between the two in the next few days.

He isn't considering any other college jobs.

Supposedly he turned down Tennessee as well

And it’s being reported both Florida and UCLA have offered 6 million a year making him a top 5 highest paid coaches

Wouldn’t be surprised if he picks UCLA though
