I just got my 360 back yesterday that died on 9/4/07. While that box had a mfg. date of 8/06, this one has a new serial number with mfg. date of 9/17/07....no HDMI port. It seems to run quieter, but I can't tell if I have the BenQ drive or not (don't know what to look for).

I'm just crossing my fingers with this one.....

Received my refurbed system back last night, have to commend Microsoft on the turn-around time. Less than 1 week from when I sent off the dead system. That could have something to do with me living 3 hours from McAllen, TX though.

"New" system has a born on date of 04/26/06 and no HDMI port, but is working wonderfully thus far. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think i'll just buy a new 360 (try to get the one with the new CPU) and sell my old one on EBAY once microsoft fixes it. I really don't want to wait 15 days for them to send it back and then have it break again in a few months.

Also, i'll probably buy the new one at Best Buy so I can get there warranty.

Just an FYI: The 3 year warranty is only for the RROD. My bothers xbox started eating game disks (major scratches in the disk) and M$ is going to charge him to fix it. He already sent this machine in once to repair the RROD.

Is the system that is scratching the disks a refurbished one? Usually if it is they will cover it.

Yeah it is the one they fixed but they only warranty a fixed 1 for 1 year. It is just past the year mark since they fixed it. They did say they would fix the RROD for up to 3 years after the repair.
