If something's rattling around in there... I don't think it's the same concept. The towel trick was only to heat it up so that it rebonds correctly, until the heat made it bend again (IIRC). If something's rattling inside... who knows what happened?

Damn dude I just read this... Being that it is an import there's no way you can get it fixed from Sony.

And it's not like the PS2.... hell, I can fix that system myself. Solder a mod chip too.

But as for the PS3.. this is an entirely different animal. Does it turn on at all? B/c if it is the graphics card then the system should turn on, just not display to your TV... unless Sony put in a "failure" check into the system...

Luckily I called the local store where my system was purchased and the guy said he would print out a receipt for me. The only problem is that the store is located in CA, and I'm in MA.

Have him mail it to you. It doesn't matter where you got it.
