Xbox live hackings

So yesterday my Xbox live account was hacked they got away with only about 50 bucks in various crap. However after a little google work its becoming clear that this has become an increasing epidemic not long after EA/Bioware was hacked a few months ago.

Anyone else know anything about this?

I got hacked about 10 days ago and had to call MS....supposedly it'll get cleared up in up to 25 days. They said they didn't actually charge my card, that MS caught the issue before it got charged, but they attempted to get MS points twice. I'm checking my next CC statement though to double check and make sure nothing went through.

First I'd ever had this happen to me though....I also haven't heard back from MS, need to call them and see if I can get it settled faster.

How exactly are you guys getting hacked? Anywhere at all that you are giving your information out, like other sites?

Nah, I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary...just that Saturday morning I woke up to 2 e-mails that someone had tried to buy MS points.

my brother got hacked and they bought like 10k MS points and a family pack with his card on file. I thought it was weird he was signed on playing CoD of all games last night and also didn't respond to a message I sent.

I removed my cards from Live awhile ago and only buy with point cards that often go on sale, but this still sucks.

One of the reasons that I refuse to use my CC or banking information on my Live account. Have always just went to the game store and purchased the points cards or the live subscriptions.

I got hacked on 8/22. They were able to buy 10k points on my cc. The bank was able to refund the money after a few days. I actually just called them last nite to find out what the hell was going on since it has been about 6 weeks (like you I was told about a month). The customer service guy didn't really have any info other than what was on his computer screen.

I basically read him the riot act after he admitted that they didn't ask for all the relevant info to begin with which is why it is taking so long!!! He then proceeded to basically blame me for saying that the way my account was hacked was by playing COD online. Funny thing is...I have never played anything online on my 360!!!

But the real kicker was he told me that he was waiting for his account to be reinstated after his 8 year old son gave out his gamertag.

He has only been waiting for his account to be cleared for...wait for it........wait for it.....
6 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He claimed he was a supervisor as well! I don't know if he told me that to make me feel better or what but I told him he should probably find employment with a new company if that is how they treat their own employees.

Unbelievable!!! I'm looking for at least a free year of live when this is over.

I got 2 months (I think) of Live (and maybe 800 points) from this...have to recover my gamertag and make sure it's all ok at home tonight, but should be good (just got the MS emails)

You only get the 800 points if the hacker changed your gamertag or whatever.

I'm all set though, everything looks good on my end, and MS was pretty decent about it. I'll be combing my credit card invoices like a hawk though!

My brothers account was hacked over the summer and mine was hacked the 23rd of last month. They got away with 11k worth of points on my account and MS said they didn't let the transactions go through, but they did, so now we're waiting on the bank and MS's investigation.

Wow this is crazy. I switched my accounts to paypal. Not that it will prevent anything.

I need to renew my XBL Gold. Anyone know of the best deal for a 12 month card is online right now? Not about to use my card after reading some of this mess.
