I have had XBL since the 360 Came out and I know of only 1 person who had their account stolen. People who get their accounts stolen generally have a very high gamerscore or they piss off a vigilant hacker.
Three easy steps to not get hacked:
1. Don't be a d bag over the mic
2. Buy all your MS points at a store and not over XBL
3. Do not have the same password as your email address.
Hackers will let you do the dirty work by chatting with you in a game, do not divulge any kind of information with anyone you don't know.
