And those who never played FIFA in their lives? Right MSFT. Social engineering is still a hack! True Story!

Why isn't PSN or other online mass services suffering from this exact event on the same scale?

Something doesn't add up with all of this.

Sony passwords probably stronger because everyone just had theirs reset relatively recently.

Pretty sure my Hotmail password has been the same for about 10 years. Also for an outright compromise, someone would have taken credit, threatened to or released information, or tried to deface something, etc as with all the other high profile breaches (if not every breach, ever).

In the end Microsoft has $billions of reasons not to lie about this.

Couple of reasons it's on 360. One most 360 owners had credit cards attached or points on their accounts. After the psn hackers most removed their cc info from the network.

In the end it's still on ea's end as you have to have an ea account for this to work. Microsoft's hole has been exposed and the hackers found their way in through ea's site.

Well I don't know what to call it, but I can't log in to XBL via the console. I can on other profiles but not my main. About to find out what's going on.

Have you tried resetting the password on the account?

Yeah I tried that. It didn't work. I tried recovering the gamertag as well and I would get an error that I couldn't connect during the "Downloading profile" phase.

I created another profile just to see if I could get online with it and I did so it's gotta be something to do with that specific gamertag. He told me there were no flags on the account though. They're supposed to be calling me within the next 72 hours.

                      Re: Xbox live hackings

Bump. One of my friends discovered his XBL Gold account, with a credit card attached, was phished today, to the tune of $80 of MS Points and over 100 packs of FIFA Ultimate Team cards.

The only EA game he has ever played, as far as I know, is Battlefield 3 on his PC. I'm looking at his XBOX Live game history, which, excluding FIFA 12 (which he does not own, he's not a sports gamer whatsoever), is only comprised of the following games:
                      • Halo Reach
                      • Minesweeper
                      • From Dust
                      • Angry Birds
                      • Gears of War

If I'm not mistaken, none of those are EA games.

Basically, I am beginning to suspect that there's a security issue with either EA's Origin service, or their BattleLog service, or both, and that they aren't telling anyone about it.

To which I pose the following question: of those of you who were hacked here, how many of you have played Battlefield 3 and have used one of the two services?

All ea accounts including sports are tied together. It's most definitely on EA's side where this begins and then a MS security flaw. I completely killed my EA account and if I ever need to again will start fresh I guess.

Honestly, thousands have been through this EA and Microsoft/FIFA scamming. Why the "F" haven't they looked in more detail at the problem. It's like the don't care for their customers (Hopefully you got that joke) HAHA

                            Re: Xbox live hackings

So MS had to take control of my account to fix the issue, which they did. They didn't tell me what the issue was though so now I am trying to get that info out of them. They did give me XBL gold for what I am assuming is a month though.

It's funny, the only reason I was trying to sign in XBL in the first place was to check a voice message. But now that I can get in, it's expired.

Had them completely delete it. Had to pry but they did it.
