You guys have me spooked so I decided to remove my card. I was able to remove my info by going to the xbox website and taking it off of my account. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live

I was hacked over the summer. I had over 4000 xbl points and they were all spent on games. I deleted my cc info after Sony was hacked. I never bothered to call MS i just chalk it up as lost money. I refues to go without my accout for who knows how long.

I also have an issue with how easy a account could be recovered if somebody can figure out your email address and password. Thats my guess as to how alot of people are being hacked.

That is exactly what MS told me when I called them. I don't know how they would have gotten that info, but they did.

Well I know I will be deleting my credit card and getting a prepaid one for my account. Also I've heard that EA has some involvement in the hackings but idk how accurate that is.

They are getting your account info from the EA servers. If you've played any EA game, Madden, BF3, NCAA, etc and at any point registered with them, then your XBL info is linked. From what I've read, and had "Jacob" from EA support basically tell me, EA's servers were hacked, so all the info was compromised and there's an exploit.

I had the EA rep completely kill my EA account, so there's nothing left for me there. I never play Madden/NCAA online anyway, nor do I care about stat tracking.

As long as you use a different e-mail/password combo with your EA account that you do with your XBL account (aka Windows Live ID) then you should be okay. Unfortunately for me, I was using the same combo until now.

Not true, as I had different passwords and was still hacked. Your XBL info is on the EA servers because you linked your accounts.

I'm glad you guys mentioned this...I haven't used my XBL account since my 360 died in February and forgot I still had my card listed as a payment option. I haven't had anything come up on my bank statements, so it looks like I got lucky...maybe because my account has been inactive for so long.

Did EA ever come out with a PR about their servers getting hacked and people's personal info being compromised? If not, they could have some legal issues...

so should we all unlink our accounts? or is that even possible if we still want to play nhl etc?

Is MS/EA ever going to come out and acknowledge this problem?

Honestly, I don't think so. It's got grass roots complaining (like me on Twitter LOL) but no site has picked up on it at all. Until then, why would either be "proactive" on this.

This is me wondering why OS (or perhaps Owen Good of Kotaku) doesn't run something about it. It's clearly affecting a ton of sports gamers, and attention needs to be shined on the issue as to prevent others from getting hacked.
