Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

A new place just opened up in my area that my buddy and I are going to check out Saturday.

Called Steamboat Gaming

Nice to have another local spot to search for retro games and systems.

There's always Facebook Marketplace and Ebay.

But if you have a local brick and mortar store that you can go and buy one so that you can look it over, I'd highly recommend that.

Do you have a GameXchange in your area? They are a fairly popular retro video game chain.

I'll have to look closer at Ebay.

I do not, just a store called Gaming Generations... I'll have to check them out.

Thanks man!

Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

Change of plans for tomorrow, my buddy and I found 2 places in Evansville that we are going to go check out.

Hope to find something good considering its a 2 hour ride to get to Evansville, but damn a day trip is sorely needed right now.

Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

We checked out 2 of the 3 new stores in Evansville that we wanted to see in Evansville.

Checked out a place called Book Broker that was absolutely filthy inside. We only stayed about 10 minutes, if that before getting out of there. It honestly looked like an indoor yard sale as crap was scattered everywhere with no rhyme nor reason.

Secret Headquarters was the place we really wanted to visit but they remained closed over the weekend due to Covid-19. They are re-opening this week, so we will be going back soon.

Super Mega Replay was the gem of the trip as they had a great selection of games, everything was well organized and the prices were extremely reasonable. Like most places, they have some "crap" meaning games without books, fake cases, Nintendo games with labels torn, or markers being used, but still there was enough good stuff to sort through.

I picked up Super Mario Baseball on the GameCube for $17 which was a hell of a deal, because I haven't been able to find it any cheaper than $30 when I've seen it in the wild. I also picked up State of Emergency on the PS2 for $5 as I have no idea what happened to my copy.

Other cool thing about Super Mega Replay is that on all video games and accessories, mix and match, buy 5 and the 6th is free. So I picked up some kiddie games for my son to play.

I found Bases Loaded for the PSOne in the case, but the booklet was missing and the case was a little beat up, which I would've been content with if the booklet was inside, but alas I couldn't buy it even though it was only $7 I think.

Any retro video game hunters in the Evansville, IN area, I highly recommend checking it out. Great place.

Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

Secret Headquarters in Evansville is amazing!

It was closed our last trip but open this time around. Games, comics and video game magazines! Extremely fair prices.

Found Baseball Stars on NES in original box and complete for $15.

Picked up another Sony PS3 controller for $10

They had NCAA football ‘14 complete in box for $30!

Evansville is my new favorite road trip hunting destination

Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

If any of you live in the NE Ohio area - Roger's Flea Market is open on Fridays. I went the other day (by myself - just wanted to be alone) and found a number of retro games and systems. Hard to know what to trust, but it was actually pretty cool to see so many.

(I get the virus and people concerned about being in mass crowds - but it's open on Fridays - early until around 4:00 pm - but I'd suggest between 8 am to noon for the best stuff).

I'm taking a vacation week this week and thinking about heading over again (it's a "staycation" as I can't get away and my wife still has to work - and the kids have sports - and our oldest is working but doesn't have his license yet.)
