#14 Miami @ #3 Virginia Tech
Lane Stadium
Blacksburg, VA
November 5th, 2005

Hurricanes bounce back, gain inside track to Coastal crown

BLACKSBURG, VA- Through three quarters, the Hurricanes were content, up 21-7 on their rival, Virginia Tech.

But then Tech stormed back with Vick. Sound familiar?

Marcus Vick threw two fourth quarter touchdowns, but backup running back Charlie Jones scored from 11 yards out with just over 2:00 left, enough to give Miami a hard-fought 28-21 win.

Kyle Wright was solid, going 16-22 for 184 yards for two TDs and an INT. Jones replaced Tyrone Moss, who was injured in the first quarter. He won't miss any further action though. Jones gained 106 yards and 2 TDs on 24 carries, impressing Larry Coker enough to promise him more carries. Lance Leggett caught four passes for 68 yards and a TD.

Vick was solid as well for Tech, passing 16-23 for 191 yards and two scores. Mike Imoh tore through the Canes' D for 132 rushing yards on 26 carries, along with a TD. Josh Hyman caught 7 passes for 93 yards and both Vick TDs.

Leon Williams had 7 tackles and a sack for Miami, followed by 6 and a sack from Willie Williams. Baraka Atkins had 7 and 2 sacks, and Thomas Carroll added another sack. Xavier Adibi had 7 tackles and a forced fumble for VaTech.

The Hurricanes get the week off next week before travelling to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest.

It doesn't help that I'm on the inside track to win the Coastal division and hopefully win the ACC?
