No one gave the Devils a chance at home against the 5th ranked Cavaliers despite their performance in the first 2 games of the season and who could disagree with their tradition of futility in football. What a mistake that was. The youngsters continued to contribute to the team’s success but there’s a lot to be said for senior leadership and QB Mike Schneider put on a performance that sums it up. He finished the game 23-36 for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior HB Justin Doyle, back from injury, rushed for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 attempts in the game to free up those opportunities for Schneider.

Duke Blue Devils 3-0 (1-0)

Player of the Week
LE – Eli Nichols

5 Tkls (4 TFL), 3 Sks, 2 FF

In what is likely the biggest upset in school history, Duke’s DE Eli Nichols put on a performance that would earn him ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 5.

You better get some love from the polls after that start.

No love from the pollsters. Maybe if we can get another win during this stretch.

Wow, what a game! Your QB is yet to throw an interception yet either.

Yeah. He's been doing well. And this is using juk34man's sliders with QB Accuracy set to 25%.

Up 42-31 in the 4th quarter, the Devils allowed Virginia Tech to rattle off 29 points and take and 18 point lead. Duke would score another touchdown on a long run by Justin Doyle but it would be too little to late.

Duke Blue Devils 3-1 (1-1)
