Re: Penn State Nittany Lions (NCAA 09)

Looks like I wasn't a cheeser when I won the National Championship with ASU in the second year of NCAA 08, they did well for themselves here.

BYU/TTU, over/under is set at 130 points.

Re: Penn State Nittany Lions (NCAA 09)

#4 Penn State vs. #3 Southern California
Rose Bowl
Pasadena, CA
January 1, 2009

Bowl of thorns
Penn State rallies, but can't save its perfect season in the Rose Bowl vs. USC

PASADENA, CA - For the seniors on the Penn State offense, like the wide outs and much of the offensive line, it had to be terrible to watch.

For the seniors on the defense, it had to be even worse to experience.

A seesaw battle at the Rose Bowl saw Penn State erase a 17-0 deficit against Southern California, fall behind 24-17 in the fourth quarter and score the tying touchdown with only 1:21 to go, only to see USC and Mark Sanchez drive the field and score the winner with 16 left. Vidal Hazelton's second touchdown of the game gave USC the victory, 31-24.

Daryll Clark battled valiantly against the best defense in the nation, completing 18 of 32 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown. He showed off his playmaking skills when Galen Hall and Jay Paterno turned him loose after halftime, carrying the ball 13 times for 119 yards. But as they so often have, USC's defense put the hammer down on an opposing running back. Rey Maualuga knocked Evan Royster out of the game early, and when he returned he found almost no running room, even when PSU went to the spread, only 71 yards on 23 carries.

Penn State's defense suffered a bitter letdown in the Granddaddy of them All. USC quarterback Mark Sanchez completed 27 of 52 passes for 384 yards and four touchdowns, as Hazelton and Patrick Turner ran around Penn State's secondary all game.

Joe Paterno offered no comment about any retirement speculation. Rumors continue to swirl that Paterno will step down and defensive coordinator Tom Bradley will be given the reigns.
